Before, after doing my banking...I would click on Tools, then Options and Security would come up where I could clear the "cache"....I think that's the expression. Can someone clue me in> Thanks.

Chosen solution

the options panel has been redesigned in firefox 38, however the structure and all the options listed there are still the same. if you're looking to clear the cache within the options, you'll have to go to advanced > network like before - though it's easier to achieve that like described in my prior answer...

hello slinky, clearing your recent history is part of the history menu - you can also invoke this with the shortcut ctrl+shift+del.

Thanks for your answer Philipp. I appreciate your effort, but unfortunately this doesn't clear it.

Maybe it's something that Firefox has substituted for the previous choices when you clicked Tools.

In case there's any misunderstanding...what I'm referring to is the line at the very top of the monitor that reads...

"File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help". This is the "Tools" that I'm referring to.

You can consider to use a New Private Window to visit your bank site. That is what I always do. In PB mode nothing is stored to the Firefox profile folder, so there is nothing to remove after you are done and sign off.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from specific websites.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can inspect and manage the cookies for the domain in the currently selected tab:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Click "View Cookies" to view the cookies for the domain in the currently selected tab

Thank you Philipp for this information. I'm glad to read that Firefox redesigned the "Options" panel. I kind of thought that maybe this is what happened ...but wasn't sure. Reading your second reply helped me understand your first reply.

Thanks again.
