Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

• Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

• On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
• On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
• On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
  (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

I did what you said but no luck! I did stop some adware I had though, so thanks! ^w^ bloomin bing page appeared when i opened a new tab! Anyway! Any other solutions? Safe mode didn't help :s

Hi, I'm a bit concerned that you found Bing. I don't know what you did to remove it, but it can be quite pervasive, so I suggest you have a work through Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware, and note that not all malware removal programs will remove all junk.

I just downloaded malwardbytes and scanned my PC just to be safe. It seems that my mouse clicks on things, but it registers the click "behind" some of the things? Like I could click on a window and it would assume I had clicked off of it :P not sure what to do to solve it, today has been super stressful so I could use this getting fixed soon.

Also youtube seems to of stopped working now, I can't click on the video itself anywhere, unless i click and drag something else on the screen like a video link, then it fixes until i switch tabs and come back :P

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

1. Click the menu button , choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

No sadly that didn't work! I have removed the malware however, malwarebytes found a few PUP. files hidden on my PC so thats sorted! At least thats all gone now! :D so thanks a bunch for solving one issue! XD now hrmmm... not sure what to do next, I've tried all the things XP

If you use a non standard windows theme or made other appearance changes then try to revert those changes and use a (different) standard theme or Windows wallpaper.

I removed the malware! And my firefox is default 100% apart from adblocker that I downloaded from the official mozilla site :P

It fixed the adware one at least. However it still doesn't seem to register that i am clicking/hovering over the close, minimize and restore buttons! Its like everything in the window works but those buttons are treated as if they are part of another window and not the one i am on!

Also things with drop down menus can't be clicked! I click on the drop down and then the menu doesn't register my clicks, and disappears when i try to click an option!

Have you seen cor-el's post which got lost in the duplicate posts made by VoodooDaddy.

Uhhh somehow it has fixed itself! Thank you all for your support and advice though! ^w^ I'll make sure to come here again if firefox is going weird again!
