Did you look in the bookmarkbackups folder in the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop?
Firefox would normally copy the content of the previous bookmarkbackups folder to this folder in the current profile folder when you reset (refresh) Firefox and create a new profile.
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Restore > Choose File
If this didn't happen then you can browse to the bookmarkbackups folder in the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop and restore a recent backup.
The xxxx part in the bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx_$$$$.json name is the total number of items in the file (includes folders and separators).
