I would like to install pure Firefox, lean without getting other add-on software, such as "Ask search". I am requesting download from Mozilla home page. Thank you for helping.

Chosen solution

I've moved this over to the Firefox Support forum.

You have two options. 1) Uninstall Ask toolbar from the Add-ons page (Firefox menu button (top right hand corner) -> Add-ons or Ctrl + Shift + A 2) Uninstall Firefox then re-install it from Mozilla directly

Yahoo!, Ask, as well as other companies bundle their toolbars and other crap with Firefox so it's best to get it directly from Mozilla to avoid any "bloat-ware"

You're actually in the Thunderbird support forum, so if you really want Firefox, go to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

If you want a fresh download of Thunderbird, go to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

Look over each page before continuing to see if there are any "extras" such as 'Ask' which you might need to uncheck.

Thanks for helping. I did download Firefox directly from Mozilla home page. On another computer in same house, download of Firefox, from same Mozilla home page, comes without the 'Ask' search page. I will try the other suggestion you gave. Again, I appreciate your efforts.

You can try the SearchReset tool by Gavin Sharp, it should remove the Ask.com annoyances.

"This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page."
