Ok attempt 2. The first time i submitted this i got a message saying i don't have access and deleted all the message i had just spent 20minites typing. FF did an update today to V36.0.4 and now i don't have any of my saved passwords and sync is not working. I have tried closing FF and reopening it still no different. I cannot follow any of the instructions in the updating the sync system as they tell you to do things on the Sync Panel in options but my sync panel only has on message on it "Determining your account status ...." I would really like to get my passwords back as some of them i don't know. Thanks in advance for any help. phil

Do you still have your original Firefox profile folder?

Make sure that you allow cookies for the accounts.firefox.com domain if you aren't allowing cookies generally or use the 'Ask me' cookie setting. Various data is stored in localStorage and sessionStorage, so make sure that DOM storage is enabled.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems (e.g. accounts.firefox.com):

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can create a backup of the logins.json and key3.db files in the Firefox profile folder just to be sure.

A few things that you can try: Disconnect Sync and reconnect to Sync. Delete the signedInUser.json file in the profile folder with Firefox closed and possibly delete the Weave folder as well.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
