I'm trying to restore Google as my search engine, instead of Yahoo
I'm trying to restore Google as my search engine, instead of Yahoo, as it does a much better job, but when I try to do this, I never get the opportunity to save the change I make. I've followed the directions several times (as well as user suggestions) and have restarted my computer, but back I go to Yahoo, which is a horrible search engine. I work on a MacBook Pro, version 10.10.2.

You have, of course, gone to the menu>search and chosen Google as your default search engine? If I were you, I might just delete the Yahoo search engine. You can do this from menu>search just click on the Yahoo search engine and then click the remove button.
Have a great day!!
Jon
I tried all this and still Yahoo appears. Thanks, Jon.
Yahoo is removed from your browser, but still appears? Check out this question see if it helps. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1022176
Open your Add-ons Manager and the computers Programs Folder. Remove Yahoo anything.
Bookmark and use this; Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
Settings Guard for Firefox {web link} Detects and resets changes to settings that are frequently done by add-ons and application installers.
