restart to update not working
I am currently running Mozilla FF v.35.0.1 & was alerted to an update a couple of days ago. However, the "Restart to Update" button is still not working. I have closed & opened Mozilla countless times, tried Ctrl + R to restart, & have also restarted my computer numerous times, but still nothing... Any news &/or recommendations regarding this bug would be appreciated. I am reluctant to do a fresh install (default version), since I have highly customized this browser. Thanks!

Firefox stores all of your customizations in a folder on your computer - not in the application folder. So you can download the latest version and install it. This should fix the problem and keep all of your customizations.

Hi, & thank you for responding to my post. As you suggested, I downloaded the latest version (v.36.0) over my current one. The only casualty is the theme I had been running (FT DeepDark) is no longer compatible with the updated version of FF... I switched to BlackFox v.2 in blue--not as nice, but it will do. Thanks again!
Glad that worked. Hopefully that theme will be made compatible soon. I'm not aware of any changes in 36 that would have made it incompatible unless it was just support for the hello button .
RDA1059, Since your reinstall, do all your "Restart to Update"s work to get to version 37, 38 and 39?
An incompatible addon perhaps implicates Bug 1035400 - "restart to update" button not working. Prevents users from manually updating when the full update ui needs to be displayed (e.g. incompatible add-ons). Which is fixed in version 38.
