How can I disable MIME at Mozilla Thunderbird, version 31.2.0?

Toad-Hall replied

I'm using version 31.2.0. An older version (2.0.0.2) had in its GUI an option to disable MIME, but the new version does not have this option, or I just miss it... Is there any way to disable MIME at version 31.2.0?

I presume you want to write in Plain Text only. Turn off the HTML formatting option. Tools > Account Settings > Composition & Addressing for the mail account deselect: 'Compose messages in HTML format.' Click on OK

If you only want to read messages in Plain Text: 'View' > 'Message Body as' > 'Plain Text'

If you leave HTML composing enabled, you can invoke Plain Text by holding down 'Shift' key and click on 'Write'; but it will only be for that email. Likewise, if composing in HTML is disabled, but you need to send an email using HTML, press 'Shift' and click on Write to invoke HTML formatting for that email only.
