ok, but this is my first time. Does my app have to work in the firefox browser or is it enough to be accessible for download on firefox, yet function outside of firefox?

I am alking about Apps and Addons for Firefox things designed to work in Firefox, particularly "Extensions ".

I am not certain I understand what a Firefox "app" is that functions outside of firefox That sounds like what we usually describe as a plugin.

If yours is just some program that works in Windows then there are many sites that promote and allow download of such software, but not Mozilla. I do not want to get your hopes up that Mozilla sites will be interested but giving a bit more detail will help me understand what you have developed.

  • Possibly you are already offering this software FREE elsewhere,
    • If so where (with link) ?
    • And what is its name ?
  • The big question what does it actually do ?
    • What form of messaging is it encrypting ?
      (IRC, email, video messaging etc.)
    • What OS is used ? (Windows, Android etc)
    • And doesfunction correctly ? and does it work with:
      • Firefox ?
      • Most other browsers ?
but If it is already available no doubt it will have a full description and reviews.
  • LINUX - I note you appear from the sytem information aside to be posting from a Firefox on Linux. Popular Linux distros have repositories of open source software. Software often developed by community members, is that likely to be an appropriate route to promote your software ?

P.S. if it is an html5 app there is now a desktop marketplace again. I can provide more information if needed.

hello

thank you for your intelligent replies.

my app is a peer to peer, proof of work bitcoin type of wallet which can serve to encrypt mail and mail attachments, as well as send digital coins. its free at www.firstnationalbnak.com

my free app is stand alone, has already gone through beta and does not need any operating system to download and function. however, I want to make it more widely available to everyone and firefox is the perfect fit because my app make encrypted mail very very easy, and free.

I would be pleased to give anyone on this forum a live demo

This is not something I am knowledgeable about, but I will attempt to provide some background information.

There will have been some official blogs etc that includes these

IIRC the rollout of Desktop Marketplace is only for certain countries at the moment not globally.

We're doing the Marketplace Beta launch next week and gradually rolling it out a week after that. Here are the relevant articles: /en-US/products/firefox/firefox-marketplace.
