How can I add a picture (icon) to a bookmark that doesn't have one?

Let me explain about my problem in particular. I have a bookmark to the address https://sso.verizonenterprise.com/amserver/sso/login.go (it's our Verizon Wireless Business login page). It is saved in my bookmark toolbar, but just shows a dotted square beside it rather than an icon. I use the site regularly, so it is not missing just because I haven't clicked on it. Is there a way to manually add a .ico file (like there is in IE) or some other fix that you know of? I really don't want another add-on.
