whenever i go online through MOZILLA FIREFOX on any site, and whether or not i use my privacy browsing, i am the recipient of a number of unwanted popup ads as well as several new tabs (up to four or five tabs) as well as a whole new window which says "about blank". This causes me a great deal of distress because i have to stop and close all these tabs and windows every single time i click before i can proceed further. this has only begun happening within the past month or so. i have tried to increase my security settings, tried to delete sources of popups among other things and nothing is working. PLEASE help me with this problem, i am at point of giving up going online because of all the frustration. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me.

Adblock Plus {web link} Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
