Hi sailfish009,

I know that there are tools available for developers to port native code to HTML5 and vice-versa, but I can't remember the name of these tools. I believe one of them is called Rust or something similar.

In any case, these are tools that developers can use to make native apps available to the Open Web, including Firefox OS. The developers of RedPhone would have to investigate the possibility of porting their own app to HTML5.

I hope you find this information useful.

Thanks,

- Ralph

hmm, actually i expected another answer.

android java to asm.js or google J2ObjC (Java to iOS Objective-C) to asm.js etc.

IMHO, rust compiler's syntax is too functional (but not lispy unfortunately!) simple c compiler with syntactic sugar (like swift?) would be more helpful to mass people.

Hi sailfish009,

The SUMO forums are focused on end-user / user-facing questions about the usage of Firefox OS.

I'm personally not a developer, so I'm not very much knowledgeable in this topic, but I believe there are solutions for what you are asking.

You may be able to find more help on external resources such as StackOverflow or Mozilla's Mailing lists. =)
