I am using windows 7 , ever since flash player 13 came (April ???) out I have been unable to use Firefox , I have everything up to date but as soon as I activate Flashplayer my screen / browser freezes and Firefox becomes unusable , I have to de-activate Flashplayer . I have de-activated all of my add ons and brought them back on one by one (done this numerable times) and every time it points to Flashplayer being the problem , I'm at the point where I'm not bothering to use Firefox any more , which is a pity bec ause I prefer it to Google chrome etc , this has not changed even with Flashplayer 14 coming out (which I've downloaded and installed - still doesn't work) can you help please , Regards

Hi press16, Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear that Flash is crashing Firefox. Mozilla is currently working on an alternative flash player called shumway. It currently is a feature of Nightly that has to be turned on from the about:config page, but there is an extension available, and it is currently experimental. You can read more about it here

The Firefox extension is availble at http://mozilla.github.io/shumway/exte.../shumway.xpi

If not, there are two troubleshooting steps I can recommend:

  1. Turn off hardware acceleration in Flash. Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems
  2. If you have crash reports copying the reports and adding them to this thread could be further troubleshooted. We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
  3. Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
  4. In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  5. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  6. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  7. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  8. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks in advance!
