Every time I open Firefox, it immediately goes to a window that has about:sessionrestore in the bar and crashes. I must force quit every time. No other option.

I am not very tech savvy, so correct me if I am wrong. But, wouldn't I need to OPEN Firefox in order to do any of the things you just suggested?

more options

You should be able to do that from the Firefox start that has the abbout:sessionrestore details, unless it crashes straight away.

Did you try starting Firefox in safe mode

If it is freezing or crashing and preventing you following those instructions there is a sightly more complicated method of obtaining the information. You will need to look on your Mac for the folder yourself.

(OS X 10.6 or previous) Click the Finder icon in the dock. Your home folder will be selected. In the right side of the window, click the Library folder to open it. Then open the "Application Support" folder, the "Firefox" folder, the "Crash Reports" folder and finally the "submitted" folder.

Can't even do that. I open it, the pie spins immediately and doesn't stop. I go to force quit and it says "Firefox (not responding)" right away.

Do you know how I would delete Firefox from my hard drive entirely? Maybe then I could download it and start from scratch.

Hai hrd2bhmbl , you could look into it on how to delete Firefox completely https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer

Uninstalling Firefox rarely solves problems with it. If it does need uninstalling because it is corrupt then it is best to do a clean install involving deleting the program files

Are you able to find the crash IDs using the alternative method ?

I appreciate all the help. But, not being very comfortable around computers, I think I am just going to go over to Explorer, which seems to be working fine.

Thanks

If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way. Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Depending on your system, you need to find this folder; C:\Users\=<User Name>=\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox Once you are there, look for a folder called Crash Reports. Inside are two folders; submitted and pending. Go into each. Copy the last 5 File Names in each folder. Remember, the last 5 include the date and time created. Post all the information in the reply box below.

hrd2bhmbl,

Before giving up entirely on Firefox you may like to try the reset it is simple to do

You mention Explorer I thought you were posting from a Mac running Safari 5.1.9 on OS X 10.6

Maybe I will give that a shot. I did mean Safari. Not sure why I said Explorer.

Fred, not a word of this makes sense to me. Sorry to have bothered everyone. Bottom line, I CAN NOT EVEN OPEN FIREFOX.

I have given up entirely because everytime someone makes a suggestion, it is, "when you open Firefox, go to the menu button"... or, "if you can't find this or that, type this into the bar"... I can't OPEN Firefox.

I double click it, the window opens but all I get is the colorful spinning pie. That is it. Incapable of doing anything. I force quit, and it says

FIREFOX (is not responding)

Done. Safari it is.

Thankyou all for trying to help.

hrd2bhmbl,

I mentioned how to do a reset in one of my posts above

I was hoping you still would be able to do that even if Firefox was not starting up properly. You mentioned you could see

about:sessionrestore in the bar
  • and I hoped you would also have a working button New Fx Menu.

If you wish to try your own suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox see this article

Obviously you may use Safari to download a copy of Firefox installer from
