ZTE Open C Accelerometer only works when phone is upside down?
I just received my new ZTE Open C and when I tried a few games, like Sketchbook Squad, for example, I found that the accelerometer control ONLY works if I hold my phone upside down.
Does anyone know if this may be an OS related issue relating to calibration, or maybe it's a defective device?

It may be due to the device or due to the application itself. Hard to say... Have you tried getting in contact with the developer?
That particular game works on my other ZTE device properly, it's just the new ZTE Open C.
I also tried a few other games, like a labyrinth game, and it too didn't respond.
I'm writing my own code now to do some testing, but I'm waiting to hear from ZTE too to see if it's a defective device and I can get a new one.
But I'd be curious if anyone else with a new ZTE Open C experiences the same before I go through the trouble of returning the device.

Well, if you check the comments here:

It turns out I'm not the only one with this issue. Wondering if anyone else has been able to test the accelerometer on the ZTE Open C thoroughly.
Hi bugninja, Thank you for pointing that out I will further investigate and post back soon.
Hi,
I have opened bug 1001817 to track this problem. More details to come, and in the meantime, please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks everyone for looking into this issue! =)

Hi,
It appears that the accelerometer is working correctly after the latest official update from ZTE, which was released last month.
I downloaded the app called "Spirit Level" which uses accelerometer to test level surfaces, and it works flawlessly and seems to be very accurate.
Please let us know if your problem persists, or if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
- Ralph
Spirit Level seems to work correctly for me too, but I have yet to find any other apps that use the accelerometer that do work. Do all the devs need to update their apps for some reason? It seems strange that after trying 3 other games that are supposed to use the accelerometer, none of them work unless I turn my phone upside down.
Hi bugninja,
I also tried SketchBook Squad and it's working correctly on my device.
Can you please list *all* the apps that you are having problems with? Please specify which of those apps the accelerometer do not seem to work at all, and which of those apps the accelerometer only works when the phone is upside down. This information will help greatly in investigating this issue.
Please also let us know the Build ID of your ZTE Open C device. To find the Build ID, go into Settings > Device Information > More Information.
Thanks,
- Ralph
