Firefox for mobile can save usernames and passwords that you use to access online services, such as your online banking and email websites. In order to protect the access to your Internet accounts against those who might get your device, you can set a master password . This article explains how to set up and remove a master password.

Note: This applies to the latest Firefox Beta version which can be downloaded from mozilla.org/m/firefox/channel/.

Note: The master password only needs to be entered once per Firefox session.

Tip: Remember to make your password something that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess to ensure that you, and only you, will be able to retrieve this secure information. The password must be entered twice to confirm that you can enter it consistently.
  4. To set the master password, tap OK.

Removing the master password

You can remove your Firefox mobile master password at any time:

  1. Swipe left and tap the Gear button.
  2. Scroll down to the Privacy & Security preferences and tap the Master Password check box.
  3. Type your master password into the entry field.
