Sometimes sharing your celluar data is the only way to get connection. In Firefox OS, you can connect your other devices and your friends to your mobile network
Warning
While sharing data via WiFi can be a brilliant solution to get everything connected on the move, it can be financially dangerous unless monitored. Connecting other devices will use the "data allowance" allocated by your carrier. Breaching this allowance often won't stop you using data, but instead cost you for every megabyte you use.
Create a network
In order to complete this tutorial, we will need to create a network. In order to do this, we need to:
- To open the settings app, tap
- Tap the button
- Tap the button
- Select a name for your hotspot, also known as the SSID. Type this into the textbox labelled SSID Network Name
- Select a security type for your network by tapping the security field to enter a drop down menu. Your network can be:
- Open
- WPA Secured
- WPA2 Secured
Warning: Leaving your netork open means that anybody has unlimited access to your data, which could cause issues as noted in the Warning section. Also, this gives people a higher opportunity to be able to steal data from your device
Press to complete the setup of your network.
Enable the Network
- To open the settings app, tap
- Tap the button
- Confirm the displayed settings are correct
- Make any ammendments using the previous section
- Tap the toggle labelled
Connect your Devices
To connect your devices, enter your details into the device's WiFi setup utility. Instructions for the one built into Firefox OS can be found at Connect to Wi-Fi or data
