    I'm deferring revision 168447 Created: Oct 14, 2018, 1:41:05 AM Creator: Anabadyo Comment: I just added a Crash Data section describing about how crashes are collected and submitted

    The "Crash Data" section that was proposed doesn't currently apply. Since at least Firefox 61, the "Allow Firefox to send crash reports to Mozilla" option is again Allow Firefox to send backlogged crash reports on your behalf (which was the option since Firefox 51), as shown in this screenshot: Fx61Privacy&Security-DataCollection

    Fx61Privacy&Security-DataCollection

    Related bug report: Bug 1427104 Allow Firefox to send crash reports to Mozilla option not working

    The Advanced panel - Accessibility, browsing, network, updates, and other advanced settings in Firefox article shows what settings were available in Firefox 55 and below. That article's "Data Choices tab" section includes this description: {for fx51}

    • Allow Firefox to send backlogged crash reports on your behalf: If Firefox crashes, the Mozilla Crash Reporter will appear so that you can tell Mozilla about the crash. In some cases, there may be reports for earlier crashes that were never submitted. When you enable this setting, Firefox will automatically send those backlogged reports to Mozilla.

    {/for}

    I'll set up a "Needs change" entry to update this article with a new screeshot for fx61+ and to consider adding a section on crash reports to this article.

    By the way, the Learn more" link for the backlogged crash reports option goes to https://www.mozilla.org/privacy/firefox/#crash-reporter

    I updated the article with a new screenshot for fx61.

    I also removed this {for fx56} note since it describes a change made over a year ago: {note}Note: Mozilla has made changes to data collection and sharing preferences in Firefox version 56 and above. For more information, see this Mozilla blog post.{/note}

    I don't think a separate "Crash Data" section is needed. I made a new revision to simply add a note with links to articles for more information, including a link to About Studies and Mozilla Crash Reporter {for fx56} and to this article {for not fx56}. I'll leave that revision pending for awhile, in case there's feedback.
