Regarding bookmarks and favicons

    Hi,

Whilst favicons may not be considered important data, individually revisiting hundreds of bookmarks, in order to refresh their favicons, could prove very frustrating and time consuming.

Perhaps an 'N.B.' to highlight the copying of the favicons.sqlite file (depending on FF version) is in order?

    Thanks

While I do not think that it's necessary to include that file in this documentation, it could be included in the more general Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data documentation, since that file is not even mentioned in that document, although that document's main purpose is to explain the files in the profile.

I would consider adding favicons.sqlite to this article if others think it is important. Have we gotten many questions about lost favicons?

For the record, favicons were moved to a separate file in Firefox 55. Related bug: Bug 977177 move favicons blobs out of places.sqlite to their own database RESOLVED FIXED in Firefox 55

On whether we should include favicons.sqlite in this article:

cor-el suggests including the favicons.sqlite file when restoring places.sqlite in his answer here: From https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1192456?page=2#answer-1044463 (quote) Website favicon images are stored in a separate SQLite database named favicons.sqlite in the profile folder, so best is to restore this file as well (places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite).

I made a new revision to include this information forfx55+. I'll leave it pending for awhile, for any feedback.
