[Needs Updates] 3rd Party add-ons disabled on update

    I'm going to add some information about this one-time (at least this is the only currently planned time) disabling of 3rd party addons when updating to Firefox 8.

    Third party add-ons are disabled only if you didn't check "Allow this installation" in the Install Add-on prompt you received on startup after the update.

    My bad. The previous post is about installing third-party add-ons when Firefox 8 or above is installed.

    When you start Firefox 8 for the first time, you've got a Select Your Add-ons wizard with the Keep check box unchecked for third party add-ons, then you click Next two times.

    If a user updates from Firefox 3.6 to Firefox 9 or above, will he see this prompt?

    No. It only happens on the update to 8 (for now at least).

    I tested an update from Fx7 to Fx9 and I've seen the prompt (no prompt for an update from Firefox 8 to Firefox 9). You need to update the article.

    You're right. It's even stated in the bug. That makes it even more difficult to explain. :(
