References to this experimental work-in-progress feature should be removed from all user-facing documentation as they shouldn't have been here in the first place. It was only in Firefox for development and testing but it was never put in a state to ship which is why it's not linked to from any user-facing UI in Firefox. There was talk of removing it for years and it could be removed at any point. It will likely get removed soon: https://mail.mozilla.org/pipermail/firefox-dev/2015-November/003509.html

    Thanks, MattN

I added "... and archiving this article (?)" to the thread title. From the article History:

Revision id: 108602 Created: Nov 8, 2015 4:39:18 AM Creator: satdav Comment: marked as obsolete as not happening now as per bug 1222769 Reviewed: Yes Reviewed: Nov 8, 2015 4:41:02 AM Reviewed by: satdav Is approved? Yes Is current revision? Yes Ready for localization: No

I think that satdav should have waited until a final decision has been made, or at least leave the decision to archive this article up to Joni. I'm going to un-archive this article for now.

I also see from https://mail.mozilla.org/pipermail/firefox-dev/2015-November/003510.html that there is still discussion going on.

There is also Firefox Hello can't access my camera or microphone which explains about about:permissions and links to this article.

Related bugs (both are still open): Bug 1222769 - Remove Permissions Manager article

    Bug 933917 - Remove about:permissions from Firefox

I added a link to this discussion in Bug 1222769 - Remove Permissions Manager article - and I reassigned the bug to Joni. As the SUMO Content Manager, Joni should be involved in any decision to archive this article.

In that case, the Firefox Hello can't access my camera or microphone article will need revision. So will the Join a conversation on Firefox Hello article.

Do we have a possible version that about:permissions will be removed ?

Nothing has been completed yet in Bug 933917 - Remove about:permissions from Firefox. That 2-year old bug was recently assigned so that tells me it's being worked on.

My guess would be that about:permissions won't be removed until Firefox 44 at the earliest. Matt N might have more information.

Thanks for providing some context on this. Since the feature never actually shipped and there's no intention to, it makes sense to archive this article.

We'll remove any inbound links to this article as well.

There are two other articles that link to this article:

Where are my logins stored? Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data

The above articles are listed on the "What links here" page for the "Give certain websites the ability to store passwords, set cookies and more" article, which was one of the previous titles for this article, before it was renamed: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/give-websites-ability-store-passwords-cookies-and-more/links
