about:permissions was never supported UI ... and archiving this article

    References to this experimental work-in-progress feature should be removed from all user-facing documentation as they shouldn't have been here in the first place. It was only in Firefox for development and testing but it was never put in a state to ship which is why it's not linked to from any user-facing UI in Firefox. There was talk of removing it for years and it could be removed at any point. It will likely get removed soon: https://mail.mozilla.org/pipermail/firefox-dev/2015-November/003509.html

    I think that satdav should have waited until a final decision has been made, or at least leave the decision to archive this article up to Joni. I'm going to un-archive this article for now.

    I added a link to this discussion in Bug 1222769 - Remove Permissions Manager article - and I reassigned the bug to Joni. As the SUMO Content Manager, Joni should be involved in any decision to archive this article.

    +1, about:permissions it is active in firefox.

    Do we have a possible version that about:permissions will be removed ?

    Nothing has been completed yet in Bug 933917 - Remove about:permissions from Firefox. That 2-year old bug was recently assigned so that tells me it's being worked on.

    My guess would be that about:permissions won't be removed until Firefox 44 at the earliest. Matt N might have more information.

    Thanks for providing some context on this. Since the feature never actually shipped and there's no intention to, it makes sense to archive this article.

    According to Bug 933917 (now fixed) about:permissions will be removed in Firefox 45.
