Good one, as I really had to look hard myseff to find this info when a friend could not get microphone/camera access.

I don't think we should wait a long time before adding this now Hello as been introduced. As some users may have clicked "Never share" (either mic or cam, or both) at first use, which results in the "We could not get access to your microphone or camera. Please reload the page to try again." error message (residing in Verbatim), maybe some additional info or even a new Hello related article about ‘restoring’ camera and microphone access when this message appears would be useful? Note that there are 3 ways to access the required permissions, so there is enough to add in that case.

Thank you for catching this, ideato. I've updated the article with mic, camera settings and updated the screenshots.

Can someone else look over the article with fresh eyes and mark for L10N?

I'll add a note to the relevant Hello articles referencing this Permissions page.

Tonnes, I agree with having a targeted article for permissions on Hello. I've created this placeholder: Firefox Hello can't access my camera or microphone. Anyone, please feel free to get a first draft started. Otherwise, I'll write it on Monday.

Tonnes, can you describe the other two ways of accessing permissions? I want to make sure we have those covered.

I went ahead and wrote the first draft for Firefox Hello can't access my camera or microphone since it didn't take me as long as I thought it would. We'll set it to L10N after we consider the other two ways of accessing permissions.

Tonnes, can you describe the other two ways of accessing permissions? I want to make sure we have those covered.

    1. The first one is by using about:permissions allright, of which I think there could be a more user-friendly way available, but that’s another story. Shouldn’t this article’s latest revision on that be set RFL btw?

    2. When clicking a “Join the conversation” link on the invitation page and receiving the “We could not get access…” message, clicking the lock icon in the top left should display one or both devices as having their access blocked, as shown below. [1] The user can change one or both settings to Always Ask or Allow and then renew the page afterwards. As this lock icon reflects website settings, one could also click the lock icon on https://hello.firefox.com itself (https only), e.g. when not on the invitation page, at a later time etc. instead of awaiting/generating a Hello invitation URL

    3. On the same invitation page or when going to https://hello.firefox.com, one can also right-click anywhere on the page, choose Show Page Info and click the Permissions tab, showing a similar permissions view as in about:permissions [2], but per website as well. Note that these per-website settings are also included in the about:permissions tab, overrule the general "All Sites" setting (only shown there), and may not reside on top of each other or even at the bottom of the list, as they are displayed alphabetically when accessed via the Show page Info - Permissions tab.
