.Google OAuth2
The Gmail IMAP and SMTP servers have been "extended" in a non-standard way to support authorization via the industry-standard OAuth 2.0 protocol. Thunderbird 38 supports this OAuth "extension".
Calendar integration
Starting in Thunderbird 38, the Lightning calendar add-on is bundled with Thunderbird.
