This article is planned to be archived. We’ve been going through Thunderbird articles to determine which ones are still needed. If you disagree with archiving this article, it’s best to post in this thread in the KB forum.

Once upon a time I made this article redirect to the main Keyboard Shortcuts TB article. Tonnes reverted it, with the explanation:

Well, I think the article is there for a reason, and there may even be an in-product link for it (not sure, need to ask Wayne just told me there isn’t). Furthermore, some users may find this article easier (when doing a search for "shortcuts") than going through the other one. And third, since that redirect affects other articles of which one of them is the main Shortcuts article itself (in the bottom line I think), that change should have been incorporated while it wasn’t in order to prevent that article to contain a redirect to itself. Those kinds of edits are a reason for me to wait until approving, or to edit the other ones first.

(well, I personally still think this article should be redirected and archived)

There is not much wrong with this article - I actually think it’s quite useful (I used it a lot myself, and the helpfulness rate is even higher than some Firefox articles), so I disagree with archiving and unlinking it from the Keyboard Shortcut article and would like to see that article’s previous revision restored.

For the other proposals mentioned here, a thorough check will be appreciated. Or in other words, I’d like to see people getting involved in updating content ever since TB38 (or even earlier in some cases) rather than wasting time and energy this way.

I'd still like to archive this article. There doesn't seem to be a use-case for this specific article. A user looking for keyboard shortcuts specifically for searching would expect them in a keyboard shortcuts reference and an article about searching in Thunderbird. If you're concerned about wasted time, don't you want to reduce duplicate content, that would take twice as much work to maintain?
