    Also confusing about this change is that Ctrl+Shift+Tab now does nothing -- unless Ctrl+Tab was pressed and the popup is still open.

    Previously it immediately switched tabs, so at first, I thought tab switching was broken entirely. Note that since tabs are added to the end, it might be that users use Ctrl+Shift+Tab more frequently than Ctrl+Tab. <snip>

    It's exposed in about:preferences as "Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order".

    Note: Related KB article: Tab preferences and settings (quote) Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order: Select this option if you want to use the Ctrl + Tab keyboard shortcut to switch through your open tabs in the order you viewed them rather than in the order your tabs appear in the Firefox window.

    This is now the default behavior in new profiles, as of Firefox 63.

    The Windows and tabs section of this article currently has the following entries as of revision/173596 approved Dec 20, 2018:

    For Ctrl+Tab

    |Cycle through Tabs in Recently Used Order |{for win,linux}{key Ctrl+Tab}{/for}{for mac}{key command+tab}{/for} | -if enabled in the Options <snip> |Next Tab |{for win,linux}{key Ctrl+Page Down}
    {key Ctrl+Tab}{/for}{for mac}{key control+tab}
    {key control+page down}
    {key command+option+→}{/for}

    For Ctrl+Shift+Tab

    |Previous Tab |{for win,linux}{key Ctrl+Page Up}
    {key Ctrl+Shift+Tab}{/for}{for mac}{key control+shift+tab}
    {key control+page up}

    for mac it should be {key control+tab} (not command). Also Options should be Preferences for mac, linux (or change it to Tab settings). I added a comment to bug 1506037 with a link to this post.

    P.S. Revision 173774 is pending review with new edits.
