We need to keep an eye on this bug and update the "What happens when a page or file is blocked?" section to tell users how to unblock a download from the Firefox Downloads panel when the bug is fixed:

    • Bug 1068656 - Implement new Downloads Panel item state for items that can be unblocked

Otherwise, people will continue to use the information in the "How do I use the Phishing and Malware Protection features?" section to turn off this feature in Firefox Security settings (as this ghacks article suggests).

This came up recently on the support forum, /questions/1048742 False positive on docx from facebook ... which links to the ghacks article.

Is there anything that needs updating under the "What happens when a page or file is blocked?" section for Firefox 48? The article currently says the following:

{for not fx47} Firefox will block the page from loading and display a Reported Web Forgery warning for phishing sites{for fx40}, Reported Unwanted Software Page for unwanted software sites{/for} and Reported Attack Page for malware sites. {/for} {for fx47} Firefox will block the page from loading and display a Deceptive Site warning for phishing sites, Reported Unwanted Software Page for unwanted software sites and Reported Attack Page for malware sites. {/for} If you download malware or spyware, Firefox displays a message on the Downloads panel.

P.S. Here's a page with test links, posted in another thread:

A better test URL to use if you want to see the download protection UI is http://testsafebrowsing.appspot.com

The screenshots may need to be updated, but also, it's no longer necessary to right-click to unblock a download. There is better UI for this now:

Hello, without reading this thread I've tried to make localized images for Italian and I found that the interface has been renewed

You can try it by yourself using the examples provided at this page:

    Hi

To ignore the warning and unblock such a file, right-click on it in the download panel and select Unblock.

Unblock is now called Allow Download. Changeset: https://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-aurora/diff/a850056f0527/browser/locales/en-US/chrome/browser/downloads/downloads.dtd

There is also an information panel (you can reach it pressing the arrow on the right) which might be worth spending a few words about.
