I see a new Home panel in Firefox 61 Nightly when I click the cogwheel from the New Tab page: Image:Fx61Settings-HomePanel

    Fx61Settings-HomePanel

I'll set up Needs change entries in related KB articles, Hide or display content in New Tab, How to set the home page and Firefox options, preferences and settings (there are likely more) to review and update, as needed, when Firefox 61 goes into Beta.

Meanwhile and in nightly 61 en-US, I see changed content for this section with regard to Activity stream.

Also, there is a pending edit for a {for} issue, some additional grammar nits may be applied (Case issue after template, period, colons after options), and the for 60 section behind the bullet causes an empty bulleted section in some cases.

You said you see changed content in nightly 61 en-US. Can you explain further, as to what changes are needed to this article for fx61 (or for fx62, if that's what you meant)?

As for the pending edit. I approved it RFL.

    Thank you.

Both for 61 and 62 the screenshot above does no longer match what I see in about:preferences#home - instead I see this. Not sure if the content depends on geolocation?

Note that the Activity stream file moved to hg recently (see bug 1463943), but I don’t think the content changed because of that. Bug 1432595 seems more obvious.

Step 1 may use the entire You can also click... between brackets, a pre-60 view gives an empty bullet (need separate section to avoid it?), and personally I’d use colons after each option described.

Side note: I wonder if "Most Recent Download" is right.

OK, I see what you mean: Bug 1432595 Add section in prefs to turn off parts of Highlights VERIFIED FIXED in Firefox 61

The Highlights section now includes these settings which were not there in the old UI for fx60: [✓] Visited Pages [✓] Bookmarks [✓] Most Recent Download [✓] Pages Saved to Pocket

Here's what I see in the latest Firefox 61 Beta for en-US (Windows 7) Fx61Beta-HomeSettings

    Fx61Beta-HomeSettings

Here's your image, for comparison (your locale doesn't have a "Recommended by Pocket" section):

I don't see any settings for additional rows, like you see, until Firefox 62 Nightly: Fx62Nightly-HomeSettings

    Fx62Nightly-HomeSettings

    Can you make the edit?

I set up a Needs Change entry: [Fx61] Update to include new Highlights settings (Bug 1432595)

I have a revision pending review. Tonnes, can you take a look? I'll wait awhile before approving.

Thanks. Please forget about the rows, that’s the only difference in 62 compared to 61 that I overlooked.

The Recommended by Pocket section is probably not visible for me because of the remark in Disable or re-enable Pocket for Firefox.

Localizers: "Recommended by Pocket" entries on the New Tab page are currently available in the United States, Canada and Germany - also see here.

The empty bullet is still visible for 57, 58 and 59 view (due to the for fx60 in line 17), but that may not be worth fixing. (?) For the rest, it looks OK.

Would it make sense to enable for fx62 and already adapt the content for it before approving?

    Thanks. Tonnes.

I made one more edit, to the {for fx61} section for a blank new tab, to explain how to select Blank Page from the New Windows and Tabs drop-down menu for the New tabs setting. I included this image:

    Fx61Home-BlankNewTab

I also added how to set a blank page for the home page and for new windows. Can you take another look? Sorry.

P.S. I can add a "Needs change" entry for fx62. I don't think we should wait to add fx62 to the version picker. We don't normally add a new version to the "Customize this article" version picker until it goes into beta (June 26 for fx62).

    Looks good to me.

/Edit: given this forum question posted yesterday, how about adding the info about "Recommended by pocket" availability in related support articles?

I approved my last revision RFL and added this Needs change entry:

Needs Change: [fx62] Mention new row settings for Recommended by Pocket and Highlights - see discussion. Also consider adding that "Recommended by Pocket" entries on the New Tab page as well as Pocket Stories are currently available in the United States, Canada and Germany only.

I made a new revision that's pending review. I also fixed the empty bullet that was visible for 57, 58 and 59 and changed "gear" to "cogwheel".

Note that there is a way to see Pocket recommendations for other regions by simply flipping the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.section.topstories preference (see the support question). Should we mention it?

I don't think we should, since we should only mention using about:config "tricks" or "hacks" when it's needed to fix a problem. Ref: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-knowledge-base#w_audience-scope-of-the-knowledge-base
