Even though the Browser Record extension was disabled in Firefox, Adobe Flash was still not loading. Following the directions in the Adobe Flash FAQs (How do I Troubleshoot Flash Player's Protected Mode for Firefox), I turned off the Record Extension for all browsers. This allowed to Flash to load as expected.

Thanks for posting this, since I added the following yesterday, to a previous thread:

Even though RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension has been blocklisted and should be disabled in the Add-ons Manager, you may also need to open RealPlayer, go to "Preferences -> Download & Recording" and uncheck "Enable Web Download & Recording for these installed browsers", then click OK, close RealPlayer and restart Firefox.

See bug 763459 comment 19 and the June 13 revision by grey_aria to add a new "Disable Download & Recording in RealPlayer" section. Note that these instructions are also in Adobe's troubleshooting page at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071

I made a new revision based on Matt's pending edit. Needs review.

Assuming you want to keep the section on disabling the RealPlayer Browser Record extension in Firefox, it should be first, being that turning off the "Web Download & Recording" preference in RealPlayer will remove the extension from the Firefox Add-ons Manager.

See also bug 764210 comment 26: The steps in comment #24 work for me as well, and what that does is to remove the extension, not just disables it.
