Changes are coming to the Content Blocking info in the Control Center 'i' drop-down list in 70. This info won't be shown by default in 70, but get its own panel that opens when you hold down the Alt (Windows/Linux; Mac: Option) key. In 69 you can enable this panel via a new Boolean pref browser.protections_panel.enabled = true. The about:protections page, accessible via a button in this panel, has been added to show some extra information. I did some research when I noticed a post in this thread:

    • Bug 1562575 - [Protections Panel] Move content blocking section into protections panel and update tests
    • Bug 1551206 - Introduce new Protections Panel behind a pref [browser.protections_panel.enabled][68]
    • Bug 1557093 - Protections panel does not open with Windows key+Click on identity icon (before Bug 1555222, it works with click on shield icon) [Alt/Option][68]

This feature is being renamed to "Enhanced Tracking Protection" in version 70. It will still be called "content blocking" in pre-70. ESR is 68 so we'll still need to support Firefox releases with "content blocking".

We'll need to have two separate articles because they're both needed as UI links:

    • ETP for 70+
    • Content blocking for under 70.

I've created a new article for 70+. That's what we'll need to update/maintain going forward after the Oct. 22 Firefox 70 release. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-desktop

We'll redirect this content blocking article when we get to ESR 70+.
