Related bug: Bug 1432743 - Move cookie settings to the Site Data section VERIFIED FIXED in Firefox 60

Johann Hofmann [:johannh] (Assignee) Description • 2018-01-24 05:14 EST (quote) As per our UI concept in bug 1421690 and (finally) following the spec guidelines (https://www.w3.org/TR/webstorage/#privacy) we'd like to merge the cookies settings into the "Site Data" section and move them to top-level.

This also means removing individual cookie management from about:preferences.

Since this change affects more than one article I'll copy the above information to the KB articles forum. Here's the thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/knowledge-base-articles/712944

See also this open bug: Bug 1348223 - Organize site data (persistent storage) better in Page Info ASSIGNED Anne (:annevk) (Reporter) Description • 2017-03-17 04:04 EDT (quote) <snip>Currently we expose site data under permissions (the persistent storage permission), but this does not make much sense, as clearing the permission doesn't actually change the abilities of the site in question. It will still have persistent data and the data won't be gone.

So instead we should not expose site data under permissions, but have it under security where we also place cookies. <snip>

I checked in Firefox 60 and the Firefox Page Info window, Security tab for a specific site does allow you to remove selected cookies, by clicking the View Cookies button: Image:Fx60-RemoveSelectedCookies

    Fx60-RemoveSelectedCookies

When updating this article we should consider adding that information.

If we include information on deleting both cookies and Site Data then we should define Site Data. See my post here, in the related Manage local site storage settings article, which also needs updating:

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/permission-store-data/discuss/7505#post-16366 On defining Site Data.

I have a revision pending to update the Delete cookies for a single site section for fx60, which includes a https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/Storage_API link to define "storage data". I also added a note about using the Firefox Page Info window Security tab's [View Cookies] button to delete individual cookies for a website.

Bug 1348223 - Organize site data (persistent storage) better in Page Info RESOLVED FIXED in Firefox 61

The option to remove selected cookies from the Page Info Security tab [View Cookies] button is no longer available in Firefox 61 Nightly. The [View Cookies] button has been replaced with a new [Clear Cookies and Site Data] button that no longer allows you to remove selected cookies. Screenshot:

I made the note that mentions this option {for =fx60} so that it does not show for fx61.
