the architecture under firefox9 concerning the storage of add-ons is seemingly changed. there are no longer folders under extensions visible - some add-ons are rather files of the type xpi.

could you change the documentation accordingly please?

You can actually have both folders and XPI files inside the extensions folder that correspond to the extension ID. See this screenshot of the Troubleshooting Information page and the associated contents of my Firefox 9 profile's extensions folder here: http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc391/wymette/Fx9extensions-Win7.png

Ref: Starting in Firefox 4 , XPI files are no longer unpacked when extensions are installed. Instead, the XPI itself is placed in the extensions directory, and files are loaded directly out of the package.

I made a new revision to the Uninstalling manually section. Besides streamlining it for Firefox 3.6 and abov I added, for fx4 and above, that either XPI files or folders (whichever correspond to the ID of the extension you want to remove) should be deleted. Needs review.

I went back and incorporated some of the edits made by scoobidiver in his revisions pending since September 2011 and then approved the new revisions based on Article review guidelines for self-approving article updates to existing content.
