Bookmark Sync error message on Firefox for iOS

There is a known issue that causes an error message to appear in Firefox when you try to sync your bookmarks on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to another device. A fix is coming and in the meantime, you can fix the issue by forcing a sync without bookmarks, then resyncing again with bookmarks.

Here's how to do this step by step:

  1. Open Firefox on your desktop or laptop computer.
  2. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton to open the menu panel.
  3. In the menu panel, click on your email address. (You might have to sign in to Sync first.) This will open the Sync preferences page.

  4. Remove the checkmark next to Bookmarks in the Sync across all devices section.

  5. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton to open the menu panel.
  6. Click the Sync button in the menu panel.

  7. Click your email address again to return to the Sync preferences page.
  8. Put the checkmark back next to Bookmarks.
  9. Click the menu button, then click the Sync button in the menu panel again.

The error message in Firefox for iOS should disappear as it re-syncs your bookmarks.

Sync is unavailable error message: If you see a Sync is unavailable error after performing the preceding steps, log out of Sync on your iPhone or iPad, then log back in:
  1. Tap the menu button menu button crop ios 5 at the bottom of the screen, followed by Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Log Out.
  3. Scroll up and tap Sign in to Firefox. Follow the steps to sign in.
