How about adding end stops to this template and excluding them in articles?

The reason is similar to the one resulting in doing so for the optionspreferences/closeoptionsPreferences templates a while ago: including a template adds a space and line feed (WFM bug 720228), so including templates within sentences or succeeding them by end stops should hence be avoided.

    Example of unwanted behaviour: here.

Example of using a template within a line , causing unwanted new line: here.

Additionally, it may be wise to mark "full sentence" templates like these (e.g. optionspreferences) Ready for l10n when they have their end stop included, as other locales may keep running into this issue as long as they are different for en-US.
