Lost my Passwords on my desktop and can't recover them through profile manager, I found them on my android phone and want to recover my passwords from there, but am worried if I try and sync to the desktop, the desktop might overwrite the passwords in the phone.

My computer unexpectedly had to do a factory reset. I had to add Firefox back on to my computer. It was my main default browser. I couldn't remember my password because I had Firefox for so many years. Your system forced me to change my password and now I cannot gain access to my bookmarks/passwords when I sign on. If you tell me that those were lost in the transition, I will be so upset. This was the only reason I was using you and do not understand why syncing is not working or recovering the information. I hope that this can be recovered, if not I have no use for your browser and will switch to a more updated browser in Chrome. I have never had such problems and cannot even remember all the bookmarks I have lost. I will never forget this experience. My hope is it will be because someone there was able to save the day and not because I realized that your company is outdated and clunky like Microsoft. Hoping you can help and completely upset. I am also very confused why my information would not have backed up automatically.

Syncing is still something I don't understand I will tell you up front my smartphone is smarter than me I'm not techy somehow I watched Microsoft and Google interface with Yahoo and now I got each addresses answering each other's it's a mess on my end for the first time joining this I feel a fresh start for the first time I feel like I might be safe I'm not social media I don't post I don't post I don't copy I try to keep things simple so I don't understand a lot of things but I'm retired Marine sometimes my mind gets very reactionary bringing my stuff over mean something I'm going to have to accept that I don't like I don't even use Wi-Fi everything is hardwired ethernet that's the best I can describe my concerns thank you for your time

Hello there. I had to recently wipe my computer on 4/12/2025. I forgot to sync my bookmarks and passwords. Is there any way I can possibly get these back? I don't know how far back Mozilla itself keeps files, I've been told they do but I'm not sure how far back.

Hi. I used braindead the backup function in the bookmark tab (see picture) After that all my bookmarks are gone. I thought its not a problem since im always sinced with firefox, but guess firefox already sinced my empty bookmarklist or i just dont know how to get the old one. I made a fresh windows install a few hours ago, so i guess i dont have a local backup on my pc. Kinda funny that Firefox does a backup right after a new install, but not when importing a bookmarklist.

Is there a way to get an old backup out of my mozilla account, or are 10+ years of saving bookmarks just gone?

hi. i change my windows and now I need to restore my old setting and bookmark to new pc but i have not any backup file i was thinking my account save all of my data & setting in cloud but now i cant access to my setting and bookmarks

Hello, my computer crashed and needed a fresh install. I installed Firefox on a fresh drive, rest the password as I couldn't remember it on the first try (I now know what is but it's already reset) and it shows me 0 bookmarks, 0 saved passwords, 0 data and keeps reminding me to "finish setup" by importing bookmarks from another browser but my bookmarks were on Firefox.. After password change I was kicked out of my FF account on my phone so all the data is still intact on my phone. I haven't logged in my phone yet. How should I proceed to restore them on my pc and sync the to bookmarks from my phone and not the other way around?

Hi, I just switched laptop< I no longer have my old one. I thought I'd just have log in to Firefox to recover all my information, like bookmarks and saved passwords, but now that I'm logged in, I can't find any of that. Is it possible I didn't save it? Can you help me recover it?

So recently I had reinstalled windows and reformated all my drives, I am also sure that this account is my only firefox account. But when i checked the sync data it shows only 1 sync data which is today 14/3/2025. I am also sure that I had left all my sync data as default therefore it should have automatically sync. But currently I do not have access to my bookmarks, etc

Hi, I know this is a long shot but I'm wondering if it's possible to sync downloads across Firefox devices. I lost my phone recently and I had a LOT of downloads on it that I couldn't backup to the cloud. Is it possible to somehow make those available through another device, like my laptop that has Firefox?

i deleted the document file in drive c and the app data by mistake, Im sure the syn was on for more than i can remember and even a few days ago i did the syn again, after the reboot i signed in and did the syn ,there was nothing at all please help me

Hello support service I bought another computer, I logged into my account and I lost all the data, usernames and passwords that I had stored in my account. What should I do now? Can you restore them for me please? Please, I had everything stored in my account, I never thought that the information in this program would be lost. for context: my laptop was working/running completely fine last night, as of about midnight (east coast). booted it up around noon today to see that it was super slow and kinda laggy (this is a windows problem, not a firefox one, don't try and fix that, i know it sucks), and that if i restarted/shut down, it would automatically update (not what i wanted). when i did finally begrudgingly restart my laptop, it auto-updated as windows does, and i expected to open up firefox and go on with my day.

unfortunately, it prompted me to make a new user. and when i signed into my firefox account, it treated the browser that i have used for at least 8 months like i had freshly downloaded it. all of my history on here is gone. all of my bookmarks are gone. when i connected my phone to try and sync from what i had left before i updated, all my sync information went down the drain and is completely gone as well. i really don't understand what went wrong here, and i'm honestly devastated that all of my work and my history has to be painstakingly rebuilt.

if anyone has any idea of what happened here, it'd make me feel a little better and try to avoid it in the future.

Okay, I do save a lot of bookmarks. But I'm not sure how they would ever add up to more than a gigabyte of user data. I already cleared my cache, and there's still 1.37 GB of "user data". The Firefox app doesn't seem to have a way to display a menu selection where I can get it reveal the contents of my "user data", or UD. Interestingly, my UD on my other devices is also gigabytes in size, across devices newer and older devices, and even desktop on Mac OS.

I am loath to delete my UD on my devices without knowing exactly what I'm erasing. And in the app, regarding the bookmark function itself, it seems that all bookmarks are stored locally on the device that they are created on. It's nice that with the sync function in the desktop app that all my bookmarks across all my devices can be ACCESSED using my desktop browser. But to SAVE, those non-local bookmarks would need to be manually opened in my desktop Firefox browser and then re-bookmarked to actually be backed up. Currently, as it stands, if I lose the device or clear the UD, I lose the bookmarks. I verified this situation using my desktop Firefox browser, which shows the root directory of bookmarks which are not locally stored in the desktop Firefox browser as "_other". And, interestingly, even with sync on across all my devices, I still can only see locally stored bookmarks on my cell phone devices; I can only see all synced bookmarks using my desktop Firefox browser.

So what I need to know is, does there exist a good way to quickly save bookmarks from, say, cell phone devices to a desktop version of Firefox, with hard drive space. And, I would also like to know how to access all the data in the UD part of the mobile device and desktop apps, so that I know what data the app is saving, and therefore, what I want to keep and what I want to delete.

I am thinking about trying sync now that I have both a Windows and Mac computer. Each has a different set of bookmarks, so let's just look at that.

I create an account. I set up sync on my PC. I then sign in on the MAC. What happens to bookmarks?

I would hope that the first time the PC bookmarks are made identical on the MAC. Then, regardless of which changes in the future, the additon or deletion or d=editng of a bookmark is echo's on the other device.

Is my thinking right? Can I force thePC to be the first accurate listing of bookmarks? And everything else I choose to sync?
