I lost my password for Firefox somehow.
I have my secondary email set up. I have account recovery not enabled I have two step authentication not enabled
I do not have a saved password in either Firefox itself or on iClouds keychain that works.
I understand that if I were to reset my password, I would lose everything.
On my desktop, I have 289 saved passwords On my iPhone I probably have that many or more unsynced passwords.
I have 10 years worth of bookmarks and history as well. I don’t really care about the history, but the bookmarks are important.
If there is no way to recover my password for Firefox, can I use Apple's Safari browser to export my usernames/passwords and bookmarks on my desktop and import them back in after I reset my password (which will reset my firefox account) ?
Also, if I do this, how will it affect my iPhone Firefox? Its not currently logged into firefox due to the password issue. Thanks!

Nothing seems to work. An appropriate plugin seems to be installed and, after downloading the latest version from Adobe, a retry informed me that Flash was already installed. Firefox does not agree. The download from Adobe informs me that upgrading is a 3-stage process but takes me no further than stage 1. This used to be a doddle under XP. You just found and ran the executable file in the Download folder. I can find no executable files in my Download folder. My current Linux version is 18.3 Sylvia. I am sure that this used to be handled automatically by Firefox updates in previous Mint versions. Now, however, it doesn't seem to matter what I try - whether using the Mint's Software function or going onto Adobe's download page. I always seem to finish up in the same place with the computer just looking at me and declaring that Flash is already installed. The Firefox Addons list includes Flash but nothing I do will get it working.

Attempting to install Firefox on my D drive.
Tried to follow these instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/custom-installation-firefox-on-windows
However, they are inaccurate. The Firefox installer does not give you any options for a custom install, it just installs. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but then it just gives you the option to reinstall. I had to hunt down three different Mozilla folders and delete them to clear out the installation properly, then tried to reinstall, but it still does not give any option to custom install.
Firefox keeps crashing when i try to download files. It has done this with pdf, word, and jpeg.
question above says it all.
Repeatedly says to close the open firefox before I can compete install, but there is none open
I stopped the AV, I deleted all old files for Firefox, there is no other firefox open or even installed, but the new one wont' install.

Regrettably, I updated firefox on my computer. It wiped out all my preferences , passwords, and bookmarks. When I tried to sync them back from my phone, the phone (with both wifi and mobile data) wouldn't connect to firefox login, though it has no problem getting to other places on the internet. It also told me I had cookies turned off, even though I didn't. I checked three times.
Is there some way to retrieve the lost data so I can transfer it to a decent browser and get rid of FF forever? Thanks.

On my computer I use firefox 28 with some profiles. Yesterday I opened one and discovered that the browsing histories in all of them are gone. There are years in there, and it's quite a shock to lose. It was right after I run Ccleaner on it's "easy clean" mode. Not for the first time, but still I'm pretty sure it is the culprit.
Each profile has a place.sqlite file, 1-2 mb in size, and the bookmarks are ok. I guess the places.sqlite files were recreated from bookmarks backups when I ran firefox. Does it make sense?
Anyway, my questions are: Can ccleaner shitups be undone from some other files? Using recuva? Does Windows System restore back up some files in the profile folder, specifically places.sqlite? Is it advisable to use it, at least from firefox's point of view?
Thanks

I've been using the FF 65 because FF didn't allowed the Simple Tab Groups add on for a while. Once FF allowed this add on again, I updated from 65 to 70. I completed the update and everything seems to work normal, but, when I restart the app: There is no master password, and all the saved logins are also gone. I know that FF has problems with the updates, so I copied my 65 version of FF an d also a copy of the profile. So I deleted the 70 and tried to update again, and the result is the same. It update's perfectly, but when I quit the app and open it again, master pass and logins are gone.
Does anyone knows what to do? Should I have to delete some file from the Profile?
Thanks in advance

Hi Folks,
I'm still using an older version of firefox to keep essential add-ons that Quantum no longer had. I'm having problems on a windows 7 computer with the version I have on it, and would like advice on the best way to proceed.
I had copied over my profile from a different computer where I'd been using FF55. I'd had some problems with 55, so I installed 52 on this computer, but using that profile. It's not working very well as I can't get vertical tabs or vertical tabs reloaded to work, it's also crashing fairly often for no apparent reason, etc. Now even the "+" symbol to add a new tab has disappeared from the tab bar, and I don't have a clue why or how to get it back!). For what it's worth, this isn't a malware/virus problem - I'm running McAfee and also periodically malwarebytes etc., and scans aren't finding problems. Computer has been restarted several times and so on, and I'm still having the problems. Could this be because the profile was from a firefox 55 version and it's being used on a FF52 version? Or would that not cause this sort of problem?
I don't want to go to 56 because I gather it won't be able to access my older saved sessions (I use Session Manager and those are the sessions I'm concerned about - so if this is NOT a problem, please let me know). I'm concerned about this because wiki says: "...Another change was the introduction of the mozlz4 format, a proprietary variant of the lz4 compression format (.mozlz4 and .jsonlz4 file extensions instead of .json.lz4 as per unix/linux standard). Session data is stored in the lz4 format instead of plain text. Firefox 56 can not recognize the legacy plain text session files, only the lz4-encoded ones...."
So I'm wondering if I should go to 55 on this computer, or 52ESR? I gather the ESR would have better security - but want to know if there's a difference in add-on compatibility or other features since 52ESR is, I gather, based on older code than 55?
If someone could talk me thru the pros and cons of using 55 versus 52ESR I'd sure appreciate it!!!
Also, I would be VERY grateful if folks could point me towards: 1. a reasonably safe site where we can search and install legacy add-ons 2. any webpage which has a good information showing which legacy add-ons now have reasonable replacements in the current FF version.

FireFox Portable for Mac Not Working
Hi there,
I am trying to get FireFox Portable working with my Mac but am really struggling and not sure what to try next.
My Mac runs on macOS Mojave, version 10.14.6
I have tried downloading and running FireFox Portable for Mac from both of these sites:
https://portable-firefox.en.softonic.com/mac https://download.cnet.com/Portable-Firefox/3000-2356_4-93635.html
When I download the install file, everything seems ok. I run through the normal install procedures.
It asks me if I trust the program, normal stuff like that.
But then when I try to open it, I just get that fail noise Macs make sometimes.
I have tried rebooting my Mac, I have made sure my normal version of FireFox is fully shut down.
I have checked as best I can to make sure no FireFox process are running in the background.
I have read the "Read me" txt file and made sure my Mac OS version is compatible.
But I still can't get it to work and I have no idea why or what else I can try to hopefully get it up and running.
If anyone on this forum has any ideas of how to get this fixed I would be really grateful.
Thanks
Tim

After the release and subsequent auto update of firefox 70.1 I had NO internet access. Anytime I attempted to open the browser I got an error page saying Can Not Connect. Finally after using a restore point dated Oct.25 I was able to acess the net and download sites again but I can no longer stream video from Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Hulu and other sites are not affected. Netflix said refreshing firefox would work. It DID NOT. Amazon says the latest version of firefox is needed to restore functionality. That version kills my ability to access the web. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on an older HP with AdBlocker Plus and HTTPS Everywhere. Any ideas ?
Yahoo mail doesn't work w/Firefox. I can't log in unless I delete all cookies, EVERY TIME. Then the date/time stamp is incorrect. But all works fine in Chrome.

Since updating to Firefox 70, I can't access the ATT log in page. Or rather, I CAN access the page, but the login form (user name/password) quickly disappears. So I can't log in. Which means I can't access my emails. After poking around, I read that the solution is to delete all cookies, cache, etc. But I have to do this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. This is uniquely a Firefox issue, and a new issue. I can easily log into and access my ATT/Yahoo email with Chrome and on my iPhone,
Once I do log in (after deleting all cookies), starting yesterday, the email time stamp is wrong. It's 8 hours ahead. My ATT account settings are correct. And my emails on Chrome show the correct date and time. So this again is a Firefox issue.
How can I fix this? Or is this a bug with the latest version of Firefox?

Hi, whenever I want to download something, Firefox shows me a Opening window. If I mistakenly select the "Open with" button, a file is downloaded to my /tmp/ directory and then opened with an application, which takes a huge amount of RAM for stuff like iso.
The another thing is that it's very annoying and takes a lot of time if you want to download many files from many websites. You have to manually choose save file for all the files you download, and the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" option is greyed out.
Is there a way disable the "Opening" window and just download the files I wish to download?
