Task manager shows Firefox loaded as a service but has threads waiting to complete. There is no application shown in Task Manager (which seems reasonable as Firefox has not loaded). There are no error messages. The " microsoft spinning circle " goes for a few seconds and then dissappears as if the program has loaded. Happens only after 2nd & subsequent loads after reboot. Firefox appears to work first time after reboot. This has only happened after upgrade to 42. Clean install makes no difference. Chrome works OK Has worked fine up until update 42. Already tried doing a clean install with the Inform Mozilla box cleared. Perhaps Firefox has started using a port that is blocked by the virus scanner? I get no logging for the virus scanner showing anything blocked. A full virus scan reveals nothing. Operating system is Windows 10 (64 bit)

The window pops up whenever I open Firefox and at random intervals. It is bothersome to have to keep closing it. I've updated both through the pop up window and through "about Firefox" over 4 times and the pop up still keeps happening. "About Firefox" says it is 40.0.

I am now on my 4th Mac, using firefox and have never had a problem before. Had a new Mac for 3 weeks and every day there is a Firefox pop warning stating that a security update is available. I click on "About Firefox" and see that I am running 46.0.1 and that it states updates are available and to click on the link. Once I have clicked on the link, it launches but no updates can be completed.

Below is what is supposed to happen but nothing happens. "so is there no update available on 46.0.1 and if so why does Firefox send the pop-up warning every day ? The About Firefox window will open and Firefox will begin checking for updates and downloading them automatically. When the updates are ready to be installed, click Restart Firefox to Update. "

gisteravond kreeg ik op mijn desktop een bericht van dringende update (het leek van Firefox) daarna zie ik alleen iets dat lijkt op internet explorer er wordt gevraagd om die als standaard browser te installeren maar ik kan niet de startpagine veranderen want die staat vast ingesteld ook bing staat vast ingesteld als zoekmachine ipv Google kan ik via een usb-stick Firefox herinstalleren?

ben ik gehackt of is dit een aanval door internet explorer en bing?

Trying to check status of my Plugins, and find 6 Unknown Plugins listed. Each with a 'Research' button alongside. When I try to research, I dont get Google results but Duckduckgo results - for some unknown reason. My normal search engine is Google, for most everything, and I would like to change the 'Research' button to use Google too. I can not find any way to do this, and I dont know how Duckduckgo got involved in the first place. (It is one of the various engines set in Options for the search bar search engines but then so are others, and they dont get into the 'Research' button business.) How can I change this to the way I want it? A solution would be welcome, please!

I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I've recently been dealing with something weird with regard to the update feature in Nightly.

Yesterday, I decided to check for an update on Nightly, and it started downloading. Once finished, I was prompted to restart to let the update take affect.

After waiting for a minute, I noticed nothing opening up again. I opened up Task Manager (I'm on Windows 10 Pro) and saw that both Nightly and the Nightly update service were both in the Backgrounds Processes section.

After a bit of waiting, the update process vanished, but Nightly remained no matter how much time passed.

I had to end up killing/ending the process/task. I did this twice more and it wasn't until the third attempt when I realized I was already running the latest version of nightly. Yet, Nightly, for whatever reason still attempted to receive/install an update.

I'm sure there are already similar questions like this, but I may not have come across them.

It is worth mentioning that I have both Firefox 54.0 Release (32-bit) AND Nightly 56.0a1 release installed on my system.

I'm currently running two profiles: the default is stuck with just Firefox release, and I created a separate profile for nightly.

Annoyingly, Nightly installs and initially runs with the default profile in use. I find this extremely annoying and prone to give errors.

That aside, I followed a guide on the Stack Exchange that addressed how to get Ngihtly to run with a predefined profile.

I edited the shortcut properties (in start menu folder/directory) and added to the Target field a "-p profile_name".

This was done after initial installation and it's been working since then.

All of the sudden, it stopped working. Not sure why.

Clicking on Nightly now only opens the standard/stab;e Firefox application.

What I'm most upset about is that I actually uninstalled Nightly after noticing the weird update inconsistency, and later reinstalled it.

The issue persisted and I'm about to try again.

Why did Nightly think it needed to be updated in the first place?

I can only imagine that some kind of corruption occurred and now it's getting worse.

Another last testament:

I tried refreshing the profile for nightly, and it didn't do anything.

When I uninstalled Nightly the first time, a folder was created in my Desktop which related to an old profile.

Sine I was given no instructions as to what to with that, and noticed no performance conflict when running Nightly after reinstalling, I deleted the folder.

What bug am I suffering from?

I just upgraded today to V36.0.4 and the plugin (LegaSuite Printer) that I need for 2 web applications that my office uses is no longer available with the new version. I get the following message: a plugin is needed to display this content. I have tried searching for the LegaSuite printer plugin in the add ons area but it is not found. I tried to revert back to the older version of Firefox but the plugin is still not available. The employees who have not upgraded to the new version are still able to print from the web applications. Any suggestions on how to get LegaSuite back or another equivalent plugin?

Hello, so I was doing something and then it started lagging. I closed Firefox and when I pressed it again it wouldn't start. It updated then it stopped working. I restarted my PC, clicked many times on Firefox logo and it wouldn't start. I got an error message in the top left corner that appeared for a milisecond. I took a video of it with my phone so I could read what was wrote there. It said "XML analysis error:entity undefined. Location:chrome://browser/content/browse Line number 53, column 1. (Sorry if it ain't the exact words, im translating because my Firefox is in french). There was also <windows id-"main-window"> under it. Don't tell me to open Firefox in safe mode, because that doesn't work either. When I hold shift, nothing happens. It doesn't ask me to go to safe mode. How do I fix this? Thanks

Hi Folks, First of all I wish to say that Mozilla's Firefox and Thunderbird have been my Internet Communications apps for the past 8 years and that I will use no other apps because of your consistently excellent work on keeping up with both features and function! Lately I've been by the fact that plugins (namely Acrobat and Flash plugins) have not registered as having been installed! I ALWAYS restart Firefox after ANY plugin update installs, but this problem seems to be happening with the more recent updates after the most Recent updates to Firefox itself. Should I do a computer restart?? As I said this seems to be a very recent problem. And again, MANY thanks to everyone for 2 "don't-leave-home-without-it" apps!!!!

I have allowed via anti virus and firewall. But cannot get past this message. I have used mozilla for years but just recently it started to act up. i.e.would not connect to certain sites (no problem earlier)

Why does it say my firefox is up to date with ver 43.0.1 when there is a version 43.0.3? I have win vista. When I go to about firefox in help it tells me that firefox is up to date with ver 43.0.1???

After my husband logs in and Firefox starts up, he continues to get window to Restart Firefox To Update. When I click on About Firefox it also indicates that we have to Restart Firefox To Update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from Mozilla.org 3 times now and this problem continues. Refresh also does not eliminate the problem. Clicking on Firefox in Applications file identifies version as 49.0.2. Operating system is OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

When I log in to Firefox under my user, I do not have any problems.

Hi, I have the latest adobe reader. When i check the firefox plugins, It says that it needs to be updated. But when installed , it closes as showing that the latest adobe reader is already in use and the only thing i could do is to exit this message with FINISH button. Now, if again checked, the firefox plugin shows that it is not updated. Some of the web page photos are not correctly captured. How to get rid of this problem. Is it a problem with FF or AR

We have an Add-On that will no longer work with FireFox once it updates version 60.2. It will heavily impact our stores ability to use certain functions/integration with our website until we get either a new add-on released or make a change to the site. We had planned on disabling updates for FireFox temporarily on each PC at each store but I am hoping for a workaround. I am curious if there is a list somewhere of the server IP’s/URLs that FireFox would use to update. This way I can just blacklist those IP’s for the time being until we get a new add-on released or an update to our website. This way they would not be able to download the latest update. It would prevent me from having to alter settings on each PC at each store (we have close to 70 locations and 4 computers at each). Is there such a list? And if so can someone point me there? I have been using Firefox on my Vista PC with no problem until I ran the update from 52.7.2 to 52.7.3 . Now I cannot start Firefox and I get the message - could not load XPCOM . I have down loaded 52.7.3esr ready to install but I am unable to uninstall 52.7.2 even if I use the helper.exe file. Please note I am sending this on a W8.1 computer, not the one that is giving me the problem.
