Firefox won't stay my default browser. Every time I sign on after rebooting MS changes the default to I don't know what. It doesn't say what is the default. It wants edge I guess but I deleted the entire edge app and all its dlls. So how do I make the choice through the "set defaults" settings permanent?
what is in the new updates that I constantly keep getting reminded about?

I have used FireFox since Netscape, but am now using Chrome which works fine.
Security is great, but when the security Trumps the ability to actually USE the web sites, then how is that different than just blocking the "offending" website.
You should ask yourselves why the FF market share is so low.
You guys need to come out of the clouds and smell the digital earth where most of us dwell. I love you all for what you do, but you seem to be blowing it. Please get it together.

Today I found out that Many apps on my system work in the background and slowing down my machine. I enlisted the consulting assistants of an expert and was told that the biggest are Adobe and Microsoft. I had a cleaning done to my system and the results were amazing. I disable Apps I didn't need, uninstall App I did not use in a long time and disable services that did not provided me with any substantive experience or improvement in productivity. The results were amazing. My system was running faster than I have ever seen it run, including the first year after I purchase it. Well, about 2 hours later, I got this notification from Microsoft saying that I have to enable these optional services because Edge would make it better for me to serve the web and have a custom experience and get tailored adds based on my activity. If I had a choice I would pick No Adds. After I read their notification that I had difficulty reading and understanding little of it, I felt pressure to signed up with Edge as my browser. These services were eating my resources like there was no tomorrow and were effecting my productivity level. Microsoft's notification included a screen shot of the changes I did today in my settings with the disable buttons in Privacy and Personalization areas. I have all the required setting about diagnostics, etc. enabled, is there anything I can do to prevent them from using me like a cheap prostitute? Can they shot my account down for that? Is there any other OS providers I could get?

I am not able to join my universities online classes through Firefox. I thought it might be just an issue with the unis conference service, but I tried discord as well and it's the same problem. Stuff I have tried: look into the permissions options and resdet the permissions (didn't even ask me for pemission again), check if the "block new requests" is marked (never was), didn't help launching firefox in trobleshoot mode to see if it's one of the addons that is the root of my problem, but it didn't change anything.
The only thing that helped was to reset Firefox, but that only fixes it temorarily (about 3 days). After that it reverted back to not letting me join calls. Now I could keep resetting my broweser every three day, but that's a bit bothersome.

I just sent an e-mail to someone at a company that handles my finances and I immediately got an ad in my Yahoo mail from a company called BeenVerified asking if I wanted to know more information about the person I sent the e-mail to. This is very unsettling. I don't know if it is really related to Firefox, or Yahoo Mail, or the fact that I had an account with BeenVerified in the recent past which I cancelled sometime back.
Is there a possibility that the security settings within Firefox can be changed to stop such a thing?
Thank you for your time!!!
Alan

Hello, sorry for my English. I would like sometimes to launch Firefox behind VPN. I can indeed do it by using options manually, it works perfectly. All along my search, I have found that a private mode launcher can be made ("C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -private-window). Is there any similar instruction, but for a Firefox manual VPN option activate ? Thank you for your attention.

Firefox lost all my logins/passwords. This happened last year and now it happens again. I've tried to find the old logins.json file and of course it does not work with it. It is empty. I'm using linux and there is no problem with any antivirus, it is simply a Firefox 'classical' error!
WHY is this happening? What is in the mind of the programmer responsible for this error? I can't understand why is he unable to keep a single file intact?
Why Mozilla is blaming the user for not having a backup. Firefox is messing this file, not the user! Why don't you fix Firefox and stop blaming the user? Why don't you simply FIX THE PROBLEM? You are "working on it" for years. Is it rocket science to JUST LET THE FILE ALONE?

hello, i searched a bit and refreshed FF, started in FF in safe mode(currently in safe mode), shifted to work offline then shifted back, as possible solutions. No proxy is selected in network preferences. All that did was make it so whatsmyip.com now says no proxy when it said proxy in use before. it's showing las vegas as my location this time. My real location is hawaii and all my other browsers show this. The "problem" is months old. I have to verify that im not a robot regularly, and certain sites give an error 403, (iirc), but work fine with safari because it isn't using a proxy. Is it possible there is some sort of malware causing this? mac os10.12.6 FF88.0.1 (64bit)

But I dare say I feel a bit let down by something I saw pop up on my screen, despite following the guidelines that Firefox suggested. That being the advise given to me suggesting separate profiles be created in order to prevent the merging of information between two separate user accounts. I learned of this much later than when I learned about tab containers in that It would allow two separate accounts logged in the same device to keep from sharing and merging information. But when I attempted to do this, I was warned that book marks and other bits and pieces would merge with the other account signing later. The suggestion was that separate profiles be created. I did that, but when the other profile signed in after the first was logged out, the same warning appeared that tabs etc would sinc with the next account to log in. Please let me know what it is that I have misunderstood. If this is true, please let me know what the Container and Profiles are really supposed to do as they are not doing what I thought Firefox said it does so well. If this is the way it is supposed to be, please tell me why anyone would think this is something a user may want.
Thank you kindly J

This is being categorized as privacy and security issues since every other search I've done for such issues point to plugins or datamining/cryptomining viruses. I've done every possible scan for my system for viruses and nothing popped up, I've browsed Explorer manually for all the files and any possible anomalies, and nothing strange has come up.
I've attached an image of the specific process that is doing this. I would like actual help, not just "check your plugins" or "run an AV scan" or something of that sort. If it's an obvious troubleshooting step, I've already tried it to no avail. Not trying to be rude, I just don't like "support experts" that give super obvious advice when it's clear the asker already has knowledge of it.
Some further clarifications:
