Both firefox and thunderbird crash directly to the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" on startup. This also happens in safe mode.

So far I re-installed firefox through the package management (first completely removed it including configuration files, then installed it again). The profile created by the re-install is still completely empty, there is no data from the original profile and no plugins.

The button to automatically add troubleshooting information doesn't work for me (probably because I'm using chrome now), so I'll try to add relevant information. If anything is missing, please ask.

Apparently, crashing YouTube is no longer compatible with Windows 8. Today I had to restart my computer five times because YouTube freezing and crashing managed to break my entire desktop. This only happens with Firefox. Also, YouTube is much slower to load on Firefox, which will most likely make Windows 8 crash more often.

I have a computer with Windows 10. For about two to three months from now, every so often, my computer/windows crashes when I open or save a PDF file on Firefox, which is extremely upsetting. I just found out some days ago that Firefox doesn't use anymore the adobe reader plugin, but uses instead its own built-in PDF viewer. When I changed the setting to use the external adobe reader software to open and/or download pdf files, it seems that my computer doesn't crashes anymore. So my questions are: why the bult-in PDF viewer makes windows 10 crash? Will that problem be fixed, and when? and lastly, why does Firefox forces to use its own built-in PDF viewer when it can't function correctly with windows 10? This have been the more upsetting problem I have had with my computer for a long time!

Starting today, Firefox crashes anytime I click on the url bar or bookmarks. If I click the home button, google will load. I can access the options. Using release 44.02. Didn't install anything today. Worked just fine last night. Now, it "stops responding" and I have to kill it in the task manager.

I've done an uninstall/fresh install over existing install. I've disabled plugins.

I can't boot it to safe mode, it crashes before even loading. I have tried the "refresh firefox" option, but it crashes before loading too.

I've booted the PC in safe mode, does the same thing. I've run every malware/trojan/rootkit scanner I have at my disposal, found nothing.

I've deleted all the session info. Same thing.

I have not used my PC for three weeks and today I tried to log in to my Amazon account, but every time I tried to do the login it crashes, I also found it to crash in other websites like Reddit and the AMD Support Site. It is Firefox 58.0.1 64-bit in Ubuntu 16.04. I tried refreshing firefox and nothing, it also removed all extensions leaving only the default plug-ins: OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc & Shockwave Flash. If I disable them manually the websites will still crash. The only way Firefox will work normally is if I restart it in Safe Mode. I also tried installed the new 59 64-bit Beta version, but is causing the same problems.

The latest submitted crash reports are:

Just loaded Linux Lite on a 32 bit Pentium Dell OptiPlex GX150 .. The Firefox packaged with the distro will not run.. crashes instantly.

I downloaded all the updates to the distro, and checked Google for info.. that let me to try to run Firefox in safe mode..

At the terminal prompt, firefox -safe-mode Returns : ExceptionHandler:: GenerateDump cloned child 3277 ExceptionHandler:: SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child ExceptionHandler:: WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal...

Then it returns to the terminal prompt and brings up the Mozilla Crash Reporter window

I am fairly confident of the hardware.. I am hardwired to the internet via RJ45, and just installed this new OS today. I've done nothing with it other than reconfigure the display resolution and use one of their nicer wallpapers to dress up the display.

I am at a bit of a loss, being fairly new to Linux, and unfortunately have no way to download anything new to this machine.. I think I saw another browser in the root user page, but did not try it. I do have a windows laptop here that I could download something to, and then take it to the new ( old Dell ) Linux machine..

Any suggestions ??
