Hi,

I don't come from an IT/Tech background so this has become a hassle for me. I have a "Old Firefox Data" file on the my desktop and that seems to have sub-folders with my bookmarks, sessions, logins, etc. How do I retrieve those to the new Firefox browser.

I managed to find my Backup-files in my Mozilla-files, but upon copying it i only got my closed Tabs back and not my closed Tab-Groups. I lost like months worth of Tabs and dont know how to restore them.

Hey, So I just updated my Mozilla with the latest update and after I restarted my laptop all my bookmarks, history and favourites are gone. I didn't do any backups manually. It's few hundred important work-related links lost. What actually happened? Can I get them back? Please help.

Hello, I had 2 firefox applications open on my pc and on these 2 applications I had different separate tabs/sessions then if I closed one after the other. This caused the one that was closed first to not reopen when firefox was launched, only the other, is there any way to bring back the session that was closed first

Yesterday I opened Firefox and found that it had completed a factory reset (without asking me) and I have lost all of my data and settings, particularly from plugins (Simple Tab Groups for example). I have a folder called Old Firefox Data on my desktop, and I have copied the files into the profiles folder from about:support, but I have still lost all my settings.

This is extremely frustrating and will take a lot of time to get everything back to how it was. Please let me know how to restore to my old state.

Apparently, there was a Windows Update last night (Windows 10). Bookmarks disappeared on Firefox. Went to Manage Bookmarks tab. Went to Import and Backup. Then Restore. There's a prompt to Choose File, but nothing appears. Also, on the left side of the Library window it is blank. On a support page, it showed some sort of list of bookmarks. Nothing like that when I pull it up.

hello,

i attempted to update my Firefox this morning and the app froze and refused to reopen after multiple attempts. i decided to throw the app away and re-download firefox on my desktop, but now have no access to my bookmarks, open tabs (history) and passwords. please assist!

somehow i lost all my bookmarks all it shows me in the toolbar is manage bookmarks i go to that click on history says empty where did they go and how do i get them back

Firefox quit working on my bench window 's 10 computer. I finally had to uninstall Firefox. I then installed a new version of Firefox. Question: did all my saved website locations that I had on original Firefox version get wiped out too? If not, how can I locate them and bring them up again.

hey, I update my laptop windows, after updates when it restarted I have signed in to my account but bookmarks wasn't recovered. It was totally gone. I want my bookmarks back it is really important to me.

I did my monthly Norton 360 system scans and updates last night, and maybe it is coincidence, but all of my Firefox bookmarks are now missing, and there is no browsing History showing. I have tried the import/restore steps but each date I try to restore from I get an error message - "Unable to process the backup file".

So, I have an emergency issue...

I was using Firefox earlier today and for some reason, I don't remember why, but my computer had two "Firefoxes" at the same time—a closed one at its normal position on the dock and another "new" one that was opened to the right of the divider next to the trash can on the doc. It was probably some minor issue and I know sometimes my computer will open two of the same app simultaneously for games and stuff. However, here is where the issue begins. So, I, for some reason, moved the Firefox that was closed and at its normal position on the doc into the trash can and I moved the Firefox that was newly opened from the position right of the divider into the place where the original Firefox was. I then emptied the trash can. Later that day, I opened up Firefox as I usually would and went to check my saved tab groups and there was absolutely nothing there. I went on a few forums and listened to directions and input code into the Firefox console and still nothing turned up and nothing worked. It seems as though my extremely important and crucial saved tab groups are unrecoverable.

I would like to know what happened and how to recover my saved tab groups if possible. Thank you all for your help and taking time to read this message!

Hello, after a power cut I lost all my bookmarks. When I try "Manage Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Restore -> Choose File..." nothing happens.

In the folder ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118/bookmarkbackups" there are several backup files, but the newest has the date Jun 25, though the name suggests it's from Jul 2: -rw-r--r-- 23850 Jun 25 13:07 'bookmarks-2025-07-02_184_mg1znof1NbBiyJ14ZcO9SluvTvLZI-rxPSm20YZUJww=.jsonlz4'

In the directory ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118" there is also places.sqlite from Jul 4 11:59 (that was the moment when the power was cut).

How can I restore my bookmarks?
