Typing the problem in the quote marks in the search box yields over 400 identical questions. So obviously this is a known problem with FF, and hopefully with Mozilla.

With me it happens on Facebook. Clicking "wait" basically does nothing, clicking "stop it" it basically stops the page from loading, so you can't post a message or have any interaction with the site whatsoever.

All along I'm watching the CPU at a constant 50%-60%, and memory for one tab of FB going up steadily from 400 MB to 1.2 GB (almost like a memory leak).

Now, my laptop has really limited specs, 3 GB RAM, Win 7, 10 years old. So I thought the laptop is probably to blame. Till I did the following experiment: Let's try Edge, with the exact same tabs, exact same sites.

So, one tab of the same FB page + one tab of Yahoo Mail -> FF: 60% of CPU, 1.5 GB of memory (and counting). Edge: 10%-15% of CPU, 500-600 MB of memory, and FB smooth as silk.

Any suggestions/solutions are welcome.

my version of firefox is obsolete in security...so as many sites tell me. I want to upgrade to the newest release but am not sure what happens to my stored logins and passwords. Also, is there any way I can view the stored info...since I have been careless and not saved all of that info.

I installed an older ESR version on a used laptop I got a few weeks ago. Everything's working fine, except the following issue with Bookmarks:

On my Bookmarks Library page I keep two columns, Name and Added (because on some folders I have many bookmarks and I track them by the date added). When I move any bookmarks to another folder, the "added" date becomes the date and time I moved them(!). Also, when I change the bookmark "name", it also changes the "added" to the date I changed it(!). Basically Added is acting like Last Modified.

Any ideas what's going on? I've never had this issue before.

I have discovered a bug in the Sync. While starting a fresh copy of the browser and signing into the Sync, the content that was earlier saved to the Sync server is not fully restored.

As example, I use the "Preferences".

Some settings, like for example: "network prefernces", "search", etc., instead of beeing restored from the Sync server, are set to the default values and need to become changed manually into the prefered values.

I have several machines on my local network. I work on machine A, and run applications remotely using ssh -X on the other machines. Today I discovered that when I start Firefox on newly-upgraded machine B, it's actually starting the older version that's on machine A. This seems obviously wrong, and is certainly not what I want to happen. I want to run the newer Firefox that's on B, and have it display on A.

Longer details: A runs OpenSUSE Leap 15.0. B runs Leap 15.4. I start an xterm on B with the command " "ssh -X -l me B", and programs other than Firefox I run from that xterm display on A's monitors, as expected. However, when I try to run Firefox (by typing "firefox &" on the command line, what actually runs is the older version of Firefox that is on A, just as if I'd started it with the same command on one of A's terminals.

Is this a known behavior, and if so, is there a way to work around it? Or am I just doing something really stupid?
