AV1 Hardware Acceleration stopped working. In about:support->Media->Codec Support Information Firefox states that Harware Decode AV1 is supported but it uses only Software Decoding. AV1 worked perfeclty before in Firefox, is still working in other browsers and apps in my system.

System Specs: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS 6.17.0-19-generic Asrock Intel Arc A380 Firefox 149.0 (64-bit)

I am running Firefox on Kubuntu, which means it comes pre-installed as a Flatpak.

I was having problems with various web sites so I decided to try using the version of Firefox installed with the file found here - https://www.firefox.com/en-US/thanks/

There were no problems with the install. This version of Firefox showed the same issues as the Flatpak version, so I blame the web sites.

Now I have two versions of Firefox. I would like to remove this second version but all the methods I've found do not remove it. I can certainly disable it by renaming the directory created in my user directory /Firefox. Trouble is, shortcuts I created to web sites always launch this version rather than the Flatpak version and I can't find a way to get the shortcuts to use the Flatpak version.

Hey there Mozilla team, Love the new free built-in VPN for the browser and Kit. :D But I have problems with enabling the VPN. I am on Linux Kubuntu and the VPN cannot start. Funnily enough when i turn on Mozilla VPN on device level the Browser VPN does manage the enable itself.

Also I have a question about the Mozilla VPN browser extension. Is support for Linux still being worked on? And could we see the support being implemented soon?

I don't really want to disable storage or ALL cookies. But I DO want to COMPLETELY sanitize on shutdown. While this policy is effective AND network.cookie.noPersistentStorage in config has been set True, NEITHER stops Persistent Storage nor cleans it. ONLY manual cleaning (deletion) of persistent storage is available in Settings: Privacy & Security: Manage browsing data. There is no other option available that I can find. One solution suggested a setting that both disallowed cross-site cookies AND isolate other cross-site data but there is no setting like that. There are TWO separate settings for that. Besides, that is not what is wanted.

How can I either completely disable persistent storage - or, more preferred is to completely clear persistent storage upon quitting?!

I have everything else cleared on quitting but persistent storage is indeed persistent. If I have to, I will disable it completely (not preferred) but do NOT want to disable ALL storage use.

Why doesn't network.cookie.noPersistentStorage not work? Or, if it does, what does it actually do?

I would like a policies.json entry for this as I already employ the file in /etc/firefox/policies as described. This is the preferred method for multiple users.

I am using Ubuntu and Firefox Snap for Ubuntu 149.0.2 (64-bit). Let me know if other information is needed. Thank you.

Hello, Firefox has been giving me some troubles lately and I can't figure out how to resolve the problem. Since I haven't found any way to consistently reproduce crashes, it is very hard for me to tell if Troubleshoot Mode also experiences the crashes, and the time I can spend doing that is very limited. As previously stated, it is very inconsistent, but relatively frequent, sometimes it crashes very soon and several times in a day, others it doesn’t at all. Sometimes it crashes with several tabs open, sometimes with only one; sometimes it crashes while using a webapp, others it does so on the newspaper page. It might be more frequent while there are Electron Webapps open, but it's more a hunch than anything, since sometimes it happens without those. There have been a reoccurring problem with Firefox that seems to show up in Linux, Windows, and MacOS. When I log into icloud, I get an error message that the icloud username and password is incorrect, even though the same password has been enter in Safari and other non-firefox browser without issue.

I have tried

• Run Firefox in safe mode.
• Clear icloud site data.
• Clear all Firefox browser data.

The only fix seems to be to create a new profile, which seems to point to a profile corruption issue. The problem is that the problem return after a while.

I want to upload the current version of Firefox. However, the system Administrator (who is me) will mnot allow me to do so. How do I change settings to allow for the upload.

I cannot add much to the description. I'll make the comment that having to look into the history to find a tab supposedly at hand is inefficient and a waste of time.

I am not a computer nerd I can only describe what is happening. I am addicted to puzzles and do them every day but am encountering problems nearly every day this week of the puzzle pieces not responding to mouse and have to shut down the computer. At other times I am kicked out of the site and returned to my desk top. No amount of trying to then get back into firefox is useless until much later on. Why is this happening?

Installing the latest version of Firefox and Debian 13.

Operating as Super User.

Chose the option Install Firefox .deb package for Debian-based distributions (recommended)

Steps 1, 2, and 3 worked exactly as expected with in a terminal and using bash.

Step 4 and 5, following the For Debian Trixie and Newer choice does not work. A lot of digging on the internet and found that the command beginning with cat <<eof needs to be cat <<’eof’. the second part of this process has same issue. appling new information solved problem both statements now work. < p></eof>

At this point you have a directory /etc/apt/keyrings. In this directory you have the file packages.mozilla.org.asc Step 3 returns success. You have also successfully applied steps 4 and 5. In directory /etc/apr/souces.list.d you have the file mozilla.sources.

It contains the instruction “Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/packages.mozilla.org.gpg”

No where in the previous stepd was the file Signed-By: packages.mozilla.org.gpg ever created.

Why is the deb package looking in /usr/share/keyrings when step 2 puts a similarly named file Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/packages.mozilla.org.asc in /etc/apt/keyrings

I'm using Firefox (149.0.2 snap) with LUbuntu 24.04.4 LTS. Because of a wrong graphic driver, I had to turn off hardware acceleration in FF.

When FF is started the Initial "Firefox - Choose User Profile" is unreadable (see attached : wrong_screen.jpg), but if I continue (click somewhere in the window) , all the opened tabs are readable.

Once in FF, if I want to select another profile from the application menu -> .. -> manage profiles, then the "Choose User Profile" window is fine (see attached : good_screen.jpg).

I tried to start FF with the "-P" option to specify wanted profile but it continues to start with the unreadable "Choose User Profile" window.

Could someone give me a solution, except finding the good hardware driver for my computer?
