I wanted to set keywords for search engines (in order to quickly change them for a single query). This cannot be done for search engines by default (why?), so I had to delete them and create a new one with the same link and my own keywords. But now I can't give them the same name back, firefox says that such a search engine already exists. In general, it doesn't matter to me which letter is there. The main purpose of my appeal is to draw attention to the fact that search engines cannot be edited by default, because it is quite inconvenient. I actively use keywords to search from the address bar, mainly g for google, gs for google scholar and w for wikipedia. Until a recent update (until last week, I think), pressing ctrl + L to go to the address bar would select all the text in the address bar, including the keyword, such that if I had made a google search by typing g and some query, I could immediately do a wikipedia search by typing w and some query.

Now, with an updated firefox (141.0.3, on xubuntu 24.04), the search engine from the previous search remains when I press ctrl + L, so I have to type backspace(s) to remove the search engine keyword, before typing a new keyword.

Is it possible to get the old behaviour back?

Since the last update, Firefox is not working properly. The search engine is completely dead, not working at all, and anything related to Google, like Gmail, never opens. I've tried several things, but nothing works.

Hello! I saw that the Test day event had started. In Firefox Beta, I entered messaging-system-action.testday in about:config, put it on a string and set the value to testday as it said in the instructions. When I restarted Firefox, the welcome window did not appear and there was also no letter S next to the search as it should be. Please help!

While I enjoy the capability of selecting a search engine as I see fit, I would prefer that my local drives take precedence. Is there an easy way to enable this for everyday casual use? In other words, can I specify "search local drives first, followed by the web i.e. casting a wider net to search on the world wide web, and an arbitrary third placeholder such as foreign sources (example only) or foreign news items (again, fictitious example)

I would like to know why doesn't Firefox Desktop support using a different search engine for private windows? I have the option on my phone and tablet but its not supported on desktop. I just want to know if I can provide a suggestion to add this option about this. Thanks!

I am trying to use Startpage as my search engine and Firefox as my browser. I just want to get away from Google and Chrome, but I can find any options to add Startpage to Firefox and viceversa

After the last update, Firefox will not load pages after 2 or 3 successful web searches. Once i close and then reopen Firefox it will work again for 2 or 3 web searchs via the dialog box

A few months ago, Firefox was handing off 'search' from the Google search bar (in the middle of the page) to the address bar. In March this was fixed with updated version 148.1 (I believe). When I logged in this morning - Firefox said there was some kind of error and made me reinstall it. My search reverted back to handing off to the address bar - AGAIN! In settings I located, under 'Search' the box that allowed this hand-off and I unchecked it and restarted Firefox and STILL my search is being moved from the Google search bar in the middle of the page to the address bar. I mean, WTH?!?!?!? Why is everything always a problem? Why is nothing working correctly? Why does Firefox make these indiscriminate changes? I cannot work like this. Please, please, please, someone help me.

Hi ì just want to ask how does it happen that when I use the Firefox bar search engine and when I type something to search i find myself typing in google search bar even when i haven chosen Firefox as a or on defaulter.

And also Please check for me what is making my data to finish so quickly, it was not like that at first but now my data doesn't last for long anymore.

Hi, I wonder why the "m"-function isn't working anymore. For example, when I stream movies, I often use the “m” key to mute the sound. Recently, the search function has started appearing at the bottom as well. Is there a way to turn off this new function? If I want to search something I'd like to press buttons Shift + f as before. When is do a search in Firefox I noticed that it now searches with "rini.drorinat.com" is this still Firefox or have I been violated? I tried to look up this site but no success, could you help with this asap please?

I switched my default search engine from Google to Bing. As you can see in the attached screenshot, it should be searching with Bing. But for some reason the search results are always Google. How do I fix this? I haven't refreshed Firefox yet. I was hoping to avoid that.
