I want my new tabs in Firefox Quantum to open to my home page. My home page is a local page with all of my frequently used links on it. I've tried using New Tab Homepage and New Tab Override, and neither of them gives me what I want. I can easily do this with EVERY OTHER BROWSER I use; why not Firefox?

The solution posted here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1210576

worked wonderfully for providing an automatic load of a *local* homepage in a new tab until FF v62.0. I've checked my config file and js file, and both are correct and in the correct location, but now FF 62 broke this again. Two questions: *WHY*, and how do I force this back to the *obvious* choice of wanting a new tab to load your homepage (including *LOCAL*, no-net-needed, no junk, fast loading pages). No good explanation has ever been provided for why this simple functionality is forced away from users. This is *obvious* functionality, why is there not a good explanation of why FF developers won't provide their users with this capability.

I can't figure out how to move the "Exit" button from the menu onto the main toolbar. I tried right clicking the toolbar and chose "Customise", but there was no "Exit" button available to add. I looked for Firefox add-ons as well but the ones that I need are not compatible with the latest version of Firefox. Currently (from what I can tell) the fastest way to close Firefox is by clicking "Open menu" at the top right (the three horizontal bars) and then scrolling all the way down and clicking "Exit" (this is two clicks though). Also to clarify, pressing the "Ctrl+Shift+Q" buttons is not what I want. I want a one MOUSE click solution.

I want to combine two customizations in Firefox 60: 1 Move the tabs to below the Address bar and Bookmarks toolbar; and 2. Move the Open Menu (hamburger) button to the left hand side in Firefox 60. Unfortunately, "customize" does not allow one to move the Open Menu button in FF60 (it is greyed out in "Customize"). I can do each of these steps separately with the following CSS customizations in the UserChrome.css file inside my profile, but am not sure how to combine the two together. For 1. the following works: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1185426 For 2. the following works: https://github.com/Timvde/UserChrome-Tweaks/blob/master/hamburger/move-to-top-left-Linux-Windows.css but combining them messes up the position of the Open Menu button - I am not skilled in CSS. Can anyone suggest a CSS that will do both tasks together? Or is there a simpler solution to both that I am missing?

The two CSS respectively are: 1. Move the tabs to below the address bar and bookmarks toolbar: ________________

/* Tab bar below Navigation & Bookmarks Toolbars
  For best results, show Title Bar or Menu Bar */
  #nav-bar { /* main toolbar */
  -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important;
  border-top-width: 0 !important;
   }
    #PersonalToolbar { /* bookmarks toolbar */
   -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2 !important;
   }
   #TabsToolbar { /* tab bar */
 -moz-box-ordinal-group: 3 !important;
   }

________________ 2. Move the Open Menu button to the LHS: ________________

/*
 * Move the hamburger menu to the top left, before the first tab
 *
 * Contributor(s): Alex Vallat
 */

#PanelUI-button {
  -moz-box-ordinal-group: 0;
  border-left: none !important;
  position: absolute;
}

:root[uidensity=compact] #PanelUI-button {
  margin-top: -28px;
}

#PanelUI-button {
  margin-top: -30px;
}

:root[uidensity=touch] #PanelUI-button {
  margin-top: -36px;
}

#TabsToolbar {
  /* Ensure the padding is always present even when maximized */
  padding-inline-start: 40px !important;
}

I'm using the built-in dark theme of Firefox. In these days I changed the background color and the folder icons in the Bookmarks/History sidebar using this codes (I'm not absolutely an expert of codes, I've found them by searching the web and the old questions in our support forum.):

/* Sidebar color change */
#viewButton, #sidebar-header, #sidebar-box, #sidebar, .sidebar-placesTree{
-moz-appearance: none !important;
color: #f9f9fa !important; /*text color*/
background-color: #1c1c1c !important; /* background color */
}
/* Drop down arrow - next to "view" */

.button-menu-dropmarker,
.button-menubutton-dropmarker {
 filter: invert(85%);
}
/* Edit folder icons */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container),
#PlacesToolbarItems toolbarbutton[container="true"] .toolbarbutton-icon,
#PlacesToolbarItems menu[container="true"] .menu-iconic-left,
#BMB_bookmarksPopup menu[container="true"] .menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu menu[container="true"] .menu-iconic-icon {
  fill: #e8bb00 !important; /* slightly muted gold */
}
  /* Live Bookmark (RSS Feed) */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, livemark),
#PlacesToolbarItems toolbarbutton[container="true"][livemark="true"] .toolbarbutton-icon,
#PlacesToolbarItems menu[container="true"][livemark="true"] .menu-iconic-left,
#BMB_bookmarksPopup menu[container="true"][livemark="true"] .menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu menu[container="true"][livemark="true"] .menu-iconic-icon {
  fill: orange !important;
}
  /* Smart bookmark folder */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, query),
#PlacesToolbarItems toolbarbutton[container="true"][query="true"] .toolbarbutton-icon,
#PlacesToolbarItems menu[container="true"][query="true"] .menu-iconic-left,
#BMB_bookmarksPopup menu[container="true"][query="true"] .menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu menu[container="true"][query="true"] .menu-iconic-icon {
  fill: #69c !important; /* similar to blue smart folder color */
}
/* These "containers" are SVG in the sidebar, not yet on the menu */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, OrganizerQuery_BookmarksMenu) {
  fill: olive !important;
}
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, OrganizerQuery_BookmarksToolbar) {
  fill: olive !important;
}
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, OrganizerQuery_UnfiledBookmarks) {
  fill: olive !important;
}
/* Avoid overriding classic Bookmarks Toolbar and Other Bookmarks icons in menus */
#BMB_bookmarksPopup #BMB_bookmarksToolbar.menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu #bookmarksToolbarFolderMenu.menu-iconic-icon {
  list-style-image: url("chrome://browser/skin/places/bookmarksToolbar.png") !important;
}
#BMB_bookmarksPopup #BMB_unsortedBookmarks.menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu #menu_unsortedBookmarks.menu-iconic-icon {
  list-style-image: url("chrome://browser/skin/places/unsortedBookmarks.png") !important;
}

I didn't find how to change the "clock" icon color (white could be ok) in the History sidebar at the left of the "Today, Yesterday, etc". items. I attach a screenshot (it is Firefox in Italian, Cronologia = History). Do you have any suggestion to solve my problem?

There is a major issue regarding the addons.mozilla.org method of addon compatibility checking. The problem is that when a addon is detected as incompatible based on version number it becomes impossible to attempt to install it even if the add on it's self is compatible.

The example I am going to use here are unofficial forks of firefox that support both web extensions and npapi plugins. Because some of these forks use quantum version numbers it disables the ability to install the npapi legacy addons (which are still fully compatible)

It is IMPERATIVE that advanced users are provided with an INSTALL ANYWAY button because frankly its a bit stupid and completely broken to prevent advanced users from installing an add on just because of a version number mismatch.

This needs to be fixed and it needs to be fixed yesterday.

I included a image displaying a mockup of how I expect the site to behave instead of simply disabling the addon

The search bar setting is set to "Use the address bar for search and navigation", I don't want to use "Add search bar in toolbar", because I don't want to have the extra search field in the top part of the browser, and if I go to customize, and remove it, it just changes the setting back to "Use the address bar for search and navigation".

I've already disabled the default search engine: "Provide search suggestions", and Address Bar: "Browsing history", "Bookmarks", and "Open tabs" options.

I want to be able to type an address in the address bar, without having any kind of auto completion options, but right now when I try to type and address like google for example, it still shows two lines with visit and search options, and it says "search for google with:", then shows icons for a bunch of different search engines.

I used to use firefox but stopped using it a while ago when they made ridiculous changes to it, and I'd like to use it again, but I don't know how to disable the address bar auto completion settings completely. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks.

Don't know how or when it changed, but the "line spacing" of the entries in my bookmarks library window have changed. I would like the leading/line spacing smaller. I can live with it as is, but it was different before. See attached image for exact location.

I've already set up a userChrome.css file. Using FF 63.0 on a Mac.

Thanks in advance.

I am running with ubuntu 18.04

I know, this is an ongoing thing. I also understand that there are, possibly, other programs that might interfere with Firefox always Asking to save logins and passwords for websites. I even understand why other password programs might consider Firefox to be a danger to the security of said passwords.

I, however, want Thunderbird to ask to save regardless of what another program or whatever thinks. Given the number of thoughts on this one I suspect that, eventually, you will figure out a way to simply write it in stone no matter what another program thinks.

I notice that there are command line options. As far as I can tell I can't tell Firefox, when starting, to make sure the Ask to save logins and passwords for websites is checked but could such a thing be possible? This would allow me to add a command line when I start firefox on startup. How about "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites = 1" or, say, add a line like that to the profile page? (that might even be better and then the profile file could become kindofa ini file for users.)

Thank you...............

Just a thought..............

Hello there,

For the benefit of Windows 10 users who have installed and enabled glass support via Aero Glass (glass8.eu), is it possible to add a toggle (perhaps in about:config) to allow disabling the default blue theme (specific in Windows 10) and enable a theme that supports glass (like Windows 7) so the title bar can be rendered with glass?

For example: Chrome users report that disabling the custom title bar, via chrome://flags/#windows10-custom-titlebar, enables glass support to function beautifully.

In the case of Firefox, there are two methods I've found to accomplish the desired effect but both come with caveats.....

The first is utilizing a userChrome.css script which does the job but creates overlay issues with the minimize, maximize and close buttons.

The second involves editing the firefox .exe and removing the windows 10 ID entry. This displays all elements, including aeroglass, perfectly but breaks compatibility with sites that cross-check the agent ID in Firefox and OS (i.e Netflix).

As long as a toggle can be used to load the Windows 7 theme (with glass support enabled, of course), or whichever method is deemed the best for this use case, then this would make the life of Windows 10 & Aero Glass users much easier.

Assuming that accomplishing this isn't a monumental task (and could also be extended to Thunderbird), that would be awesome!
