Following an incident with Firefox Sync, I needed to restore my bookmarks. I have a little over 700 bookmarks across 15-25+ folders at mostly 2-3 levels deep but up to 5 levels. All but a handfull of these are all in the bookmarks toolbar.

I have a backup json of everything for restoration. However, when I do restore, everything is messed up: all the bookmarks are there, and all the folders are there with their structure preserved (subfolders in the right folders), but every bookmark has been pulled out of the folder structure and into the toolbar, so all folders are empty of actual bookmarks. This includes taking bookmarks from folders in the bookmark menu. Folders seem to be in the right order, and some bookmarks are, but most bookmarks are in the wrong place and order. Since most of my bookmarks were in folders, I really do not have it in me to put them all back unless I absolutely have to (assuming I can even remember what goes where).

Opening the json in Firefox, selecting "Raw Data" and "Pretty Print", it is clear the json file correctly preserved folder structure and bookmark placement exactly as it was before. Thus, something must be going wrong in how it is being read.

I have tried different restore points with the same outcome. I have sync disabled and have tried removing existing bookmarks first, clearing data, and deleting places.sqlite (as per related help threads) to no avail. Integrity check runs without error. I have also tried on a different OS (Windows 10 and Manjaro KDE) with the same results. I have not seen any other posts with this specific issue.

Would it only work correctly if the export was an html file? Is there anything I can do, like trying to modify the json? Is this expected behavior or a bug to fix? Please advise.

As the title says i have just updated to macos monterey and i regularly use firefox, when i open facebook google, youtube, gmail. It loads the mobile version of the site like if i was using a tablet.

the new update removed all of the websites that were listed in catagories on the left side of the browser window and I don't know how to put them back. They were all the important websites that I go to regularly.

Hello, I have no left top miniature on main page youtube. This property was on my old computer (widows 7) and after synchronization migrate to my new computer (windows 10). I cleared cookies and cache. I don't wont clear history. Regards Tomek

Every time I enter my local town in "Get the news that’s local to you" on the BBC website it disappears as soon as I move to another page. It never used to do this and it is very frustrating. Any help would be very gratefully received! Thank you.

I have noticed since yesterday (but maybe it is related to the 95.0.2 Firefox update) that Firefox tries to access some weird websites each time it starts.

The websites Firefox tries to access are various (non-exhaustive list):

• itchytidying.com
• jollytestpartying.com
• dateddeed.com
• censusmiles.com
• unpleasantconcrete.com
• pacifyrespirator.com
• (...)

Kaspersky Internet Security blocks all those access attempts and notifies me with a "Download denied" event and a "Probability of unauthorized software download" message (see uploaded image).

I immediately suspected one of my Firefox extensions, so I disabled them all... But the issue kept on occurring. Could Firefox be infected? (I ran Kaspersky Internet Security through my whole PC, and it found nothing ; I did the same with the free version of MalwareBytes ; nothing again).

I find it hard to believe that this behavior is normal and that these alerts are false positives from Kaspersky Internet Security... What do you think guys?

When I try to play video embedded in many websites, I just get a spinning wheel, and no videos will play. I've cleared my cache, and followed numerous other tips that I found when searching on this problem, but nothing has helped thus far. Any additional advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

The address works fine in MS Edge.

I can not understand why my laptop has suddenly decided to not download

when I download from firefox or save a picture from gmail firefox says failed

so when i have fullscreen on, i can't see the minimize, maximize or close button which before the latest update or the two last updates maybe i could see when i just hovered my mouse to the top of the website i could minimize and maximize or even close if i wanted to even in fullscreen mode, now i have to get out of fullscreen mode to do that and i was hoping i could possibly change that some way or another i checked other posts but they were mostly from 6-7 years ago and unrelated to my issue

As of today, I can no longer log into my Express Scripts account on my PC using Firefox. I can log into virtually everything else using Firefox (i.e., my bank accounts, credit card accounts, brokerage accounts, etc.), but not Express Scripts. Previously, I had no problem with this login - over many, many years. And I find that I can log into Express Scripts easily using Edge, Chrome or (on my iPhone) Safari - so the problem would seems to be with Firefox. Specifically, when I try to log into Express Scripts using Firefox, a new small pop-up window arrives noting that, "This site is asking you to sign in." - the pop-up asks for user name and password to be typed into the pop-up, and provides a "sign in" and a "cancel" button - if the user name and password are inserted into the pop-up and "sign in" is clicked, the pop-up simply clears the user name and password - if "cancel" is clicked, the pop-up disappears, the original Express Scripts login window goes briefly to a "we'll be right with you" screen, then reverts back to the original login screen.

Dear Sir or Madam; I downloaded a login CSV file from the Firefox browser. The date columns format in the CSV login file is ‘1.64055E+12’. In EXCEL, 44556.79166 would translate to 2021/12/26 18:59:59. The translation of ‘1.64055E+12’ should not be the same exact date, but should be in the same date range, as the 44556.79166 number. I’m not a mathematician. Would you please show me how to convert the '1.64055E+12' value to an equivalent excel date/time number? I could then format the excel date number cells to an yyyy/mm/dd hh:mm:ss format. These scientific number values are in the Firefox login file CSV downloads so I assume they were intended to be used in EXCEL spread sheet. These values converted to EXCEL date values would help me sort account password date change records by account name and change date. I could review sorted account records (and thus determine the current password for individual old accounts). Your solution would help me immensely and I appreciate your time. (SECOND occurrence of this problem; not sure HOW previous instance resolved - my short-term memory ISN'T the best at present!)

Have taken all recommended steps short of completely refreshing (renamed a file titled 'config.json.old' as it was the ONLY one with a 'json' filepath suffix) because I don't want to have to relocate (another) existing session / configured profile by trial & error if avoidable - 'cookies' were removed along with history / cache cleared; reset / deleted related browser registry entries as directed, activated ' Troubleshooting / Safe Mode' contingency and STILL can't download anything (additionally, tried to do so with and without limited-time Malwarebytes web protections).....want to CONTINUE using Version 95 because by ALL indications and from what I'm seeing in Comments, my instincts about newer ones - were sound, WELL-informed.....please advise ASAP? A few days ago Firefox on my Mac laptop (macOS Catalina) suddenly stopped suggesting sites I'd visited in the drop down on the address bar and is no longer auto-completing as I type into the address bar. It is set to auto-suggest based on pages from history (I unset and re-set that in settings), and to remember history. However, I noticed today that the history is near blank (it has 3 tabs from a local network page I visited but nothing from outside my local network).

I also noticed today that the copy on my laptop is no sharing with my other instances (work computer, phone). I can send tabs to it, but the tabs that are showing as being "current" when I look at other machines are from before this happened.

I've tried rebooting and restarting Firefox, but I can't seem to find any fixes for it.

[This happens on both PC (Win 8.1) and Mac (Mojave 10.14.6) with the current version of Firefox (95.0.2).]

I backed up my bokmarks on both PC and Mac as .json files due to switching laptops for my holiday (PC is personal, Mac is work). When I imported the personal .json file on the Mac, the bookmarks did get imported but all jumbled up - the folders were still there but empty and all the bookmarks were just dumped in random order in the Bookmarks Menu root folder. So I tried synchronising profiles instead which didn't work either.

Now I'm back home and of course the synch has messed up the bookmarks on my PC as well. I deleted everything, restored the bookmarks from the personal .json again, and it does restore them properly for about 2 seconds and then all of the neatly sorted bookmarks in their folders get overwritten again by the jumbled mess. The same thing happens when I restore from the automatic restore point instead (from a day before my holiday).

I have disconnected the snych, restarted and updated several times, and tried this on both PC and Mac with both the personal and work .json files, with the same result every time. I have about 1200 bookmarks in total so I would love to be able to fix this without going through all of them to put them back into their respective folders manually. Any idea how I can fix this?
