Is it possibile to change horizontal or vertical size of the main firefox window using mouse? Now I am able to open only one size between the maximum and minimum. Why? Mary

The settings page is vaguely providing an option to turn off this feature. I don't care what you want to call it, be it AI/ML/chatbot, it's not related to browsing the internet and I don't want it. I don't want it to consume ANY resources of my computer, I don't want it to exist in my computer unless I EXPLICITLY use it, I don't want to be FORCED to go and search everything in about:config page to get it completely (probably) deactivated. Provide a button that DOES deactivate and hide (without running it in the background either) the whole AI/ML/chatbot integration. I don't want to use it, again, I don't want it being shoved in my face or my computer against my will. Firefox IS a web browser. Otherwise, let's stop making any kind of websites (eshops, newspapers, social media and other) since they will not be browsed by people that want to browse the web, since the web browser decided to put AI in front of everything to consume everyone's content and dictate their own design, alignments caused by bias disagreements etc etc.

I started using Claude in the side panel instead of a dedicated tab, but there is something noise about it: every time I click to open the side panel the chat starts from scratch. Getting a clean slate is nice, but it takes too much time loading. So I would like to not unload the content of the panel when I close it, just hide it, so when I click to open is already loaded. There is a way to do that?

Not sure if this is a Linux or Firefox issue, but here goes. In the past when uploading pictures for instance in Gmail I got a menu showing places EG pictures, video's etc. Example - home - pictures- cats - black cats - list of jpg's, click attach. When attaching another pic from the same folder etc it used to default to the same folder location with the list of jpg's.

With the last few FF updates that isn't the case any more, when next attaching a pic file I now have to start again from scratch EG home, pics, cats, black cats instead of click attach straight to list of jpg's in back cats.

Is there anyway I can configure FF back to the old setting please?

Firefox 151.0.1 64 bit for Arch Linux I am trying to create a desktop app from a website - the ai is saying if there is no + sign in the url box then try More Tools -> Create Shortcut but there is no Create shortcut there. So how to create a desktop app from a website?

`StartupWMClass=firefox-aurora` in `/usr/share/applications/firefox-devedition.desktop`, with actually `firefox-dev` for opened windows.

I search but did not find any list of environment variables supported by Firefox. Is there such an official list, perhaps groupped by Firefox version, published somewhere?

I've found out that you can create custom prompts for the AI sidebar with the configuration `browser.ml.chat.prompts.*`. Usually, this is done with the selection text. However, I'd like to pass the URL instead. I could use `%url%`, but that does not include parameters after `?` and hence does not work for Youtube.

Is there any variable that I can use to pass the full URL including parameters of the URL?

I'm running Firefox under Ubuntu, Ubuntu is using Wayland which replaced X11.

Firefox's User Agent string still refers to X11, this does not cause me any problem but I'm curious.

I realise some websites might be expecting to see "X11" and could get upset if presented with "Wayland" instead but in various walks of life telling the truth is often the best policy.

I want to delete Preview Links. I tried going to Settings>General>Browsing, however, there is no "Browsing" section. I have a Linux Mint. I do NOT want Preview Links. Thank you.

The new "Copy Link to Highlight" button shifted the "search with" option down, which I use regularly.

I'm not entirely sure what the new option does, but I would like to either disable it or shift it further down out of the way

With Firefox 144, there is unasked for/unwanted AI introduced. How do I ensure that all AI is completely disabled in my browser? I found a link describing some settings, but want to confirm this will disable ALL AI in the browser. I don't want it, don't trust the privacy/security holes yet to be found and would prefer it was not included in Firefox to begin with. The list I've found is:

Do I need to clear that field to ensure I don't get some auto opt-in in the future as more and more of this "stuff" is put into the browser?

Why not leave Firefox as a security/privacy conscious browser and put out a separate AI browser (FirefoxML?) for those that are not as concerned. How does Mozilla ensure that no information is leaked through AI from sessions for professionals that must protect physician/patient, attorney/client information or other legally confidential information?

Firefox recently had an update, and now when I am uploading files, I can't double click to upload selected files. I have to first select the file, and then click the open button.

Before the latest Firefox update, I could simply double click on files to upload. This workflow was much faster.

If I go to about:config, and search for: widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker, I can change the value from 0 to 2, and then I can upload files by double clicking. However, then Firefox forgets my last upload location, and always opens in the home folder.

If I set it back to 0, it remembers my last upload location, but I can't double click to open files.

My current Firefox version is 152.0.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can I lock in my Zoom setting to 120. When I am scrolling up or down a page, My 120 zoom goes crazy. There has to be a way to lock my zoom rate to 120. I can lock in my zoom rate with Chrome. Why not Mozilla?

Previous to version 151.0.1, when I pressed ctrl-L, Firefox focused the URL bar and I was able to edit the URL. Now, on 151.0.1, pressing ctrl-L clears the URL and a dropdown for the search engine appears in the left of the URL bar (see attached screenshot). I have verified this on a new, blank profile. Is there a way to restore the old behavior?

On Firefox 128.14.0esr (build 20250811113756), Linux/X11, the setting browser.tabs.hoverPreview.enabled does change back to "true" every few days, or perhaps browser restarts.

How can I turn off tab previews reliably?
