Hi,

At some point in the last couple of weeks, I've started running into very frequent crashes running Firefox in the Linux container on my Chromebook. It previously worked well, but is now unusable. I'm now running Firefox version 147.0.3 on Chrome version 144.0.7559.167. This is after I did a clean reinstall of Firefox using flatpak, which didn't help. It seems like it often happens when my mouse hovers over a browser tab or icon (eg account, extensions, hamburger). Other quirky display behaviour, which mayor may not related, is that videos are often not working (eg Youtube, BBC), and various browser windows (eg when selecting Manage Bookmarks, or restarting in safe mode), open a small size-reduced window. Yesterday Firefox started crashing tabs on load of a handful of websites that are seemingly random, like Twitter and a few shopping site tabs I had open. It wasn't after a system update or anything, it just started happening while Firefox was already open and those tabs had already been open and loaded. I've tried clearing my cache, site data, reinstalling Firefox, and it still does it. Upon further investigation, it seems to be something regarding libfontconfig, and mostly specific to users of openSUSE Tumbleweed.

is there anything else I can do to get this looked into/resolved?

I use Linux Mint and I have been experiencing numerous system crashes involving Firefox which requires a cold boot. What is the problem? How can I debug this? Are you getting crash reports?’

This happens several times a week. It has happened continuously tonight since installing the latest update via the Software Manager.

The program causes a total freeze of the OS. All other running programs and all input sources. I have no choice but to shut down via the power button on the tower.

Mint generates crash reports but I have no way to determine if they are being sent to Mozilla.

Firefox for Linux does not provide a troubleshooting system like it does on Windows. Neither does Mint.

I studied Computer Science in the 80s when Firefox was known as Navigator. I learned C and the Unix OS, but since then I became a psychologist, and don't remember too much of the Com Sci stuff I learned and I don't think Mint allows user modifications anyway.

What can be done to fix this? I don't have the Benjamins to buy a new Windows to replace the Linux, nor do I want to.

Firefox has been crashing regularly for a full day now. I have one profile with multiple extensions, and a fresh profile that is meant to test firefox without any. With this new, "clean-slate" profile with none of my extensions installed, I still get repeated crashes. It is getting in the way of my ability to work- it happens even in Troubleshoot mode, even though I could not confirm any hardware issues prior to this.

Will I need to delete the extenstion-filled profile entirely before going forward? Is there an update I need to install, or anything else I should do myself? Should I provide a list of my extensions?

Attached is the Report ID of my latest crash- hopefully it will help.

Firefox crashes but I have never seen the crash reporter on my 6.18.10-200.fc43.x86_64 Fedora 43 system with budgie-desktop 10.9.3

Is the crash reporter discontinued?

I had an issue where my browser disappeared. Here are specifics for my installation.

I relaunched and then restored previous session. After that, I searched open tabs, but when I selected a tab that was reported to be opened,  it was not restored. I went to troubleshooting mode and it worked fine suggesting some issue with an extension.  What, if any logs could I capture to help debug? thanks

NB - For the past half a year I have to sometimes right click to interact with them, anyway

Effectively, I will interact with the extension at the most basic, normal level on something that has interactive elements like a dropdown menu, or basic options.

I will click / right click on the icon and the highlight will appear, then that's it ... the browser then crashes and does not recover. :(

What's worse is that I have to Force Quit and when I restart there is no crash report to send to Moz.

I am just wondering if other Linux users have experienced similar issues.

I have Hardware Acceleration on.

I am about to start testing with it off, but I work from the browser, and do not want performance compromises. So that is (at best) a work-around, and certainly is not a fix.

FF for Linux Mint mint-001 1.0 FF closes in just a couple of minutes, even with one open tab and nothing clicked or typed. FF crashes even in "Troublshooting Mode". "about.crashes" lists no crash reports Using Task Monitor to view system vitals, I discovered that while CPU usage by FF is very low, memory usage rises linearly over a couple of minutes. System memory available is 31.0 Gb. When FF usage reaches 30.7 Gb, FF crashes. No other browser or program has issues.

I've been using Firefox on Linux since it was Nautilus. Currently running EasyOS Linux Daedalus and Excalibur on different Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny Core i3-8100t boxes and different drives: A good Samsung SSD and two good flashdrives. 32G new RAM installed on each box. I've been using these boxes for over a year. For the last month or so, ever since updating to v. 146 my tabs have been crashing like crazy! I don't normally have more than 10 tabs open at once. But now, as soon as I open a 5th tab it crashes.

I'm running Top to watch CPU and RAM usage. I see nothing unusual. I've rebooted. Disabled all add-ons and run in Troubleshoot mode. Tabs still crash. My only add-ons are uBlock Origin, Temporary Containers and Dark Mode. It happens whether I have hardware acceleration turned on or off. I don't know what else to try. I run Firefox under Linux Mint. Both are always update to the latest level. Over the past 1 to 1.5 years, across updates to both Firefox and Mint and multiple 'clean' installs of Firefox, I have experienced many crashes from Firefox per week. Sometimes there will be as many as 5 per day, but never less than one per day. During the same period I have also been running Vivaldi; it has not crashed once in that time. Now I have to do something. If there is a simple way to perform 'problem source identification', that is within my capability, I would be grateful for advice. If there is not, then clearly I will have to un-install Firefox.

As far as I can tell both of these browsers run with just 1 add-on/extension: uBlock Origin. Disabling this extension in Firefox does not stop Firefox from crashing.

I have today encountered a reproducible issue with Firefox 145.0.2 (64-bit) on my system (CachyOS Linux). Whenever I press the "Print" button in the printing dialog for a PDF file, the browser freezes and no longer reacts to anything. I had to kill the process manually and try again. I have then downloaded the PDF and opened a different application to print it - that worked fine. Is this a known issue with Firefox? Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

I already tried resetting the printer settings in the browser, but that did not change anything.

Firefox suddenly crashes without any displayed error. Attempt to troubleshoot it in "safe mode" doesn't help (it also suddenly crashes.

• When I had redirected following output: "Exiting due to channel error."
• after restart, I launched "about:crashes", but there were no entries

Firefox is crashing for me pretty consistently. It was happening with a significant amount of time in between each one but has escalated to the point where it is happening once every few minutes now. I have checked for updates and ran Firefox in troubleshoot mode. There are no updates available for me, and it still crashed in troubleshoot mode. My most recent crash report is bp-462fb540-28d6-4d0c-8007-6428d0251028. I am running Pop!os and recently did a firmware update, so I am wondering if that is where the problem is originating from since I had no issues with Firefox prior to that update.

Hello. I have this problem for almost a year now. There are websites where my Firefox crashes constantly and I can't use it at all for browsing them. All such websites are mostly online stores where you can buy something by putting it into cart and then proceeding to order page. I can't even scroll through product pages, it crashes in second after opening the webpage. For example, ozon.ru

This happens in Troubleshoot Mode too.
