I have been with Firefox for years as default browser but recently been having probs. It wont open from Start or my taskbar. Keeps going to New tab at top of screen. Tried reinstalling but still the same. What has happened?

latest update from 150.01 to 150.02 crashed compatibility error can't open firefox. error platform version 150.01 is not compatible with minver>=150.02. can't even open anymore

I was trying to do something with my bookmarks yesterday and I must have pushed the wrong icon. Firefox then became unavailable. I'm 88 years old and not fully at home with computer language. I tried Chrome, but it's not available like Firefox.

How can I resolve the failure to open because it can't find the XPCOM. I downloaded a new copy but the computer insists on using the older, faulty version to open files and it will not work.

Hello, I cannot open my browser. I did try Microsoft edge and that one worked....but I want my Firefox one! I did reset my modem. Can you help me please?

i am using fox to open the zoom , but is not working

I wanted to refresh Firefox. When I downloaded the installer from the Mozilla website, I got this message: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." I finally downlaoded it from the App store and now I get this message "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

I can't recollect doing anything lately that would have caused such a problem. I don't mess with the registry, and I don't use rogue programs. I do have a Surfshark VPN, which I disabled to download the latest version of Firefox.

I am running Windows 11 on a Dell PC, which is about 6 months old.

I didn't have any problems until reciently.

How can I fix this?

When I try to open Firefox, I get a box saying it is open, and I must close it. I do so, and a new Firefox pops up. However when I try to close that, it won't do so.

I can't open Firefox. I keep getting the message "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window.". I can't find it to close. I tried uninstalling it, but I keep circling back to the same message. I tried refreshing it and again same message. I un installled Surfshark VPN, I ran Windows Defender antivirus. I am now out of ideas. I do have two profiles, but the message about deleting them is scary. I don't want to do anything until I understand what I am doing.

Windows 11; all updates are installed, Dell computer purchased in October, with AMD processor.

Firefox cannot start because Mozilla process is already running and I cannot stop it.

I tried to restart my PC but no success. I reinstalled Mozilla/Firefox but again error message appears:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window."

I reinstalled it many times. I also force-quit the process in Task Manager. Basically, I did everything Google told me to do. But everything was the same. It says: Firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window, the running Firefox process must be terminated. please help

After the latest version was updated, Version 149.00.7, on my laptop, on 27 March 2026, the browser closed midway while I was working, and now I can no longer access Firefox.

When I click on the Icon to access I keep getting the following error message as per the attachment:

I have uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it THREE TIMES already', but I still get the same error as before, as per the screen print provided.

I have even tried to install Firefox with custom settings, but then in order to proceed with the installation the ONLY button to proceed was the "UPGRADE" option.

I am at my wits end because this is totally unacceptable and the updated version obviously DOES NOT WORK!!!

Your urgent attention and prompt action in sorting this out will be appreciated, thanks.

i downloaded the installer on windows 11 and it would not go up. it just stayed at 0%. and i wet t the fallback download and that worked but the download downloaded Firefox but yet it opened for 2 seconds and closed. and refused to open from that point! what do I do?
