This time the plug in update was for Adobe Reader but I have seen it with other updates as well. I noticed this behavior in my computer after microsoft switched to outlool.com. From that point on I started to get registry changes any time I opened microsoft explorer. That was the reason why I switched to firefox. My registry now stays unchanged any time I open Firefox but it continues to be occasional a problem when I run updates. Normally I check my registry before and after running the update. I contacted and complained to microsoft but I never got a satisfactory answer. My computer run on windows XP.

It's not really possible to answer this without knowing the registry keys in question. Have you tried asking Symantec why their product keeps complaining about registry keys?
