I just got notice this morning about this new version of Firefox but I'm hesitant to install until I know that my Norton toolbar will work. Can you provide some information? Thanks!

Solael,

Best to ask Comcast support directly.

Are you aware that Firefox 21 is scheduled to be released next Tuesday, May 14th?
https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar
Comcast & Norton are already over 5 weeks late in releasing a compatibility update for Firefox 20.

Since Norton had the Firefox 20 compatibility update for their retail security applications within 2 hours of Firefox 20 being released, my guess is that Comcast is the one delaying the update for their "branded" version of Norton.

See this response from a Norton Manager at the Norton support forum on April 29.

I apologize for not replying sooner. We're sorry for the delay, and we understand how frustrating this situation has become, however Norton & Comcast are working hard to resolve some recent changes for the Comcast Norton Security Suite. We want to reach a commercially viable resolution together in the best way possible, and do that as quickly as we can. I'll update you on any status change or additional information as it becomes available. Thanks for hanging in there with us.

I read "commercially viable resolution" as they are arguing over money, and Comcast is hanging their customers out to dry for almost 6 weeks now.

You can't download Norton Toolbar independently either you can update your Norton product! Here's a KB article which will help you to fix this issue - https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v58055475_EndUserProfile_en_us

Is anyone able to tell me if Norton Toolbar through Comcast is now compatible with Firefox 20? I do not want to go through all of the constant updating (until it works) for nothing.

Thank you!  :-)

I posted this on the 6th of May, and I have yet to receive an answer.

I use the Comcast "Norton Toolbar". I have the incompatible, multiple install problem as do others. I have no problem using the Toolbar on various releases of IE. I mention this, as it appears the problem includes FireFox.

The last time I had Norton tech support to assist in the install for the Toolbar for FireFox 19-> FireFox 20. They were unable to do so that I had to reinstall FireFox 19.3.

I am now forced to used IE for us of various FireFox enhancements. I need a solution, Any help?

more options

On option is to not use the Comcast version of Norton as Comcast can be rather slow on Norton updates like those for Firefox. Unlike with the vast majority of extensions, this toolbar has to be compiled for each new Firefox release.

The Norton "Data Safe" is available for Chrome and IE. I used Comcast to get the "data safe" and use in the browsers. Only Firefox, which I love, is presenting the incompatibility. I do not understand the blockage. I just want it to work. Please advise.

That is simply not an option when Comcast is our IP provider, therefore, we receive Norton as our virus protector and removal that comes with the toolbar. Why would we not want to have it? We have the Vault that holds all of our passwords, though I keep a hard copy just in case. Truly, I will wait for Comcast, though they are slow, before I upgrade to quite possibly, by the time that they get it done, to Firefox 21.

If Comcast is your IP provider, you have to wait until Comcast releases it. The safe web does not require anything special. Sure, they all work with IE and Chrome, but it is just Comcast.

There is no "law" which says that Comcast internet service users have to use the Comcast Norton AV program! And if your main criteria for using Norton Comcast is that it is "free", there are other free (for personal use) AV programs out there. AVG, Avast, and Avira are 3 companies which have "free" versions of their Anti-virus programs.

I use Avira Free, which doesn't have those "silly" toolbars.
Avira Personal Free - http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus
Avast Free AV - http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

No, no law...but would not trust anyone else like AVG. I prefer Norton, let us stay with that then. We can choose either Norton or McAfee, and Norton has it hands down. Especially since McAfee decided to leave the country so he would not have to pay taxes, until he got into a bit of trouble..and loooook, he wants back in....

Did not mean to go off topic, but I will not leave Norton, like I will not leave Comcast or Firefox. I am one of those customers that remain with the best. Firefox, in this instance, I love ya'll...but upgrading has to wait.

I updated to Firefox 20 last week and had to disable the Norton toolbar (not Norton Vulnerability Protection). My Norton is also from Comcast. Today the Norton Toolbar is active again... automatically.

more options

Yes, I suspected something occurred yesterday. It was as if I had updated my Firefox, because it had checked to make sure my add on's were compatible. So, I believe both did it automatically, because I am no longer receiving those annoying update messages (which I must state are only annoying when you have to delay updating Firefox for a specific reason. Otherwise, I just click and update).

Thanks for all the support. My toolbar and browser went away last night also. somebody listened. onward ad upward.

Well, guess what. I believe what those who have Comcast as our IP is to do is wait until Comcast does updates, without worrying about it. They automatically did it, and I now have Firefox 21. Yippie! I never lost my Norton toolbar. Now I understand Comcast. When they update their Norton toolbar, we will be updated too, and we will not miss out on the current update of Firefox. I believe they keep tabs on what Firefox is doing, and I did not need to call them. I was waiting for the patience to do so. They told me that I was a 'preferred customer' (I should be, I have everything through them. Security, high speed internet, phone and cable). Anyway, for the future, I will not need to come onto the forum board, I will know that Comcast will upgrade as soon as they are able, and we will not miss out on future Firefox updates, as we will be updated to the newest program of Firefox. So, though it took them awhile, and it was Firefox 20 when we realized that it was not compatible, when it was compatible, they made sure we had the current Firefox 21.

Thank you Firefox for your patience. You are (in my opinion), the best browser, and the only browser that my school (American Military University), uses, due to your security. No other browser will work with school, not even Chrome. One day, I used Chrome to submit my Final, and I had not saved my Final on Word, and I lost it all!!!! No more Chrome, I will tell you that! But I also learned to type all of my work on Word, then copy and paste. Whew! What a lesson learned. Anyway, through school is how I learned about Firefox, and here I shall remain, even after I receive my Masters in Intelligence and National Security. With the creator of the school being a Marine - and the school not using anything else but Firefox, that tells me right there, that Firefox is top notch. I do not even use IE9, as they expect us to have our security on mid or low. With Firefox, I am able to have my security on top notch 'high' though all of it, and it still works. Whereas, IE9 blocks me from accessing the internet, until I return my security to default (allowing pop-ups). Nope, if you do not want to give me a choice - then I will not use your service..thank you very much.

Anyway, I just wanted to give credit where credit was due. Thank you Firefox, and may you remain blessed with prosperity, forevermore!
