Hi kari69, what you ideally would like to find is this folder (exact path depends on your OS):

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yourprofilefolder

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yourprofilefolder

Because AppData (or Application Data) is a hidden folder by default, you may not have realized that this was a key folder to explore when making your backup.

To ensure that Windows is not concealing hidden files and folders from you, you can turn on viewing using Windows Explorer. (See: Show hidden files and folders)

If reinstalling Windows created a C:\Windows.old folder, then you might still have that old folder in there.

Thank you for that. I have found several folders with following path - AppData/Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles. They all seem like plug ins and extensions. No your/profile in there either.

Hi kari69, do any of the folder you found have a recent date? What you would hope to find inside the (partially random-named) profile folder(s) would be a subfolder named bookmarkbackups. That would contain dated .json backup files that can be restored using the steps in this article: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer (note: for ease of access, copy the backups to a more readily accessible folder).

I have not been able to find any similar file, unfortunately. I still have my old hard drive and can access it, would I be able to get the information from there by the same means?

Hi kari69, you didn't mention a hard drive before. Yes, that would be very useful. Common ways to access it would include using a USB drive enclosure or attaching it as a second drive in a desktop computer.

I have had trouble access it previously as it is not very stable. I still cannot find the backup files though. I assume I am doing it completley wrong.

Hi kari69, Firefox is pretty consistent about its data locations. Can you find these paths on your old drive?
